I agree with you. I really enjoy the stereo mix more vs the original one. Great separation of instruments and vocals. I haven’t had a chance to compare the mono to the 2014 version but your explanation of the slight differences makes sense. And yes, Revolver is my favorite Beatles album too.

I just received my vinyl box as well. ( greetings from Ottawa ) I thought a poly liner interior for the 45 would have been the icing on the cake. As well, the hole and label on the sessions side 3 looks awkward. I haven`t had time to listen to everything but I`m looking forward to my next day off with a few pints and a new Revolver recording. This is easily my favorite Beatles album ( next would be Help ) I`m very excited to have an exceptional vinyl of the mono mix.

The Capiphone project Revolver doesn't have either singles on it(per John's wishes).The RM 11 is in the mono,though.

Hi from Liverpool, England. This Mono LP was not remastered, it was a straight AAA transfer from the master tape👍.. Yes it does sound sublime❤️❤️

Sean used his mastering notes from the 2014 mono cut for the 2022 cut. So it was not a straight transfer from the master to the lathe.

@@stevewestman7774 so I’m just wondering why the ‘new’ Mono version sounds better than the (2014) according to the masses who’ve already played both versions back to back and concluded the new Mono is better. For me, I’m not bothered as I’ve never heard the (2014) Mono but this new version does sound superb and balanced compared to the new Stereo remix..

I agree, the mono mix is still my go-to version when it comes to Revolver. I bought the box set few days after it was released to find out how it would sound as I had heard some review especially one from Dan Lacksman i.e., famous Belgian composer and sound engineer (and Beatles fan) who was full of praise about the new '22 stereo mix, I wasn’t disapointed though i have to say was not was awestruck

I really like the stereo remix, but to me, Sgt Peppers is my favorite Giles mix. The out takes we’re really fun, love the studio banter. The mono was super punchy almost the equal of my UK OG I loved the book too I’m a sucker for the tape boxes (as you know!)

Just got mine today! Haven't opened it yet, crossing my fingers that all the records are good (heard about some people getting the wrong records/missing a record). I was able to score a huge deal on amazon Canada on release day, even though I had preordered, a UK distributor working through Amazon had it at 230 cad, so I cancelled my order and reordered. Here's hoping it was the right decision and that I got a good copy.. Already sold my 2014 Mono Revolver in anticipation

Happy to report the mono plays beautifully, didn't hear a single pop. The stereo actually had a couple little spots of noise (I cleaned both) but not too bad. The 45 in hard cardboard is just dumb. Honestly the cost of a plastic inner is less than 5 cents...come on apple. One of my sessions discs has a little spot on it, we'll see if it plays through. Overall though, great set.

Yep, Revolver has always been my favourite! 👍 Surprisingly, I really liked the remix too 😳 BTW, Tomorrow Never Knows is my all time favourite Beatles song! 😁 Oh, and I've never really cared for The Yellow Submarine either. Hmmm... maybe I should just stop giving you such a hard time 😃 BTW, which do you personally prefer, Revolver in mono or stereo...?

I am still a Beatles Mono guy first. I like the freshness of the new remix but prefer the mono pressings.

Yeah, Steve. I’m totally with ya, man. I really dig it. I enjoy having different options and a current sounding mix. The really did like the mono too. A matter of difference vs better. Glad to have em both.

At least you won't have to worry about using a mono stylus for the mono copy,unlike the original,which is compatible,but,really plays better with a mono stylus.

My alternative review of this..and it aint good... Who cares how the remix sounds fidelity wise in mastering terms if the remix sucks? It could sound *real* all day long but the remix makes it sound so weird that I sound quality isnt a consideration. For me sound quality doesnt come into play. Moot topic. Do a good remix with good sound, then we are cooking. But this remix isnt it. Here is why... Tell me how any of this is subjectively better or even differently as good as the original mix?: Phasey sound on the cymbals on Taxman. Some weird stuff going on with the guitar solo, in that it has some sort of chewed up/chopiness from the tambourine being extracted from it. Are unatural cymbal sounds and a worse sounding guitar solo ever an improvement? The disjointed guitar mess that is She Said She Said. Its almost universally hated that Giles did this. If so many hate it, then how can it be an improvement? Harmonium is so buried that is barely audible. Can basically losing an actual instrument be in any way a good thing? An improvement? Please tell me who thinks subjectively or objectively placing the guitars and drums on Yellow Submarine on the left is an improvement? Or by removing the foghorn on "Yellow Submarine" makes this song in anyway better or even differently better? Restoring the opening strum, and John's missing vocal line - totally understand those differences. But why mute the foghorn, what possible reason is there? That isnt being "artistically alternatively different". That is taking away part of the song. Listen to the stereo remix of 'Rain'. Pauls bass seems to have evaporated. Well, thats sometimes an improvement to a song isnt it? Not. Then there are the little things that add up which were taken out.. Missing nuances that helps gives Revolver its character and ambience such as the infamous hum of the amp being gone now. For what reason? How did getting rid of the hum make the album better? Did it place us more in human contact with realism of the moment or take us a bit out of the moment? It didnt help or improve a thing. It took away a bit of the cool feel of the song is all it did. The guitar feedback midway through TNK..burried. Once again the later being a cool little subtle characteristic placeholder that now is no longer present. ADT on the lead guitar in Doctor Robert. Again messing with the character of the song in a way that improves nothing. These above are but a few examples. I could go on and on with these "improvements". Point is, there are tons of crap things about this remix that are simply NOT an improvement. At all. In no form or fashion. Subjectively or objectively. They are just bad. I will say some are unfortunately correct by saying: "this is the best you'll get" But it didnt have to be the best we got and that is the point. And now, those of us who are once again disappointed in this remix are stuck with these turd decisions. None of those crap decisions I mentioned had to have happened. Basically it tells me once again: The literal crap ton of bad decisions/sloppiness/ignorance (or whatever caused the above issues) made on this remix concludes for me, Giles Martin doesnt know his **** from knothole on how a good remix should be done. Sorry, but I dont even think folks know what they are listening to considering the reviews this remix is getting. Or they simply dont even care. Its all about a shiney new box and getting something "different" or to admire in a shelf. Who cares about the details of the actual remix and what detriment it has done to the songs and albums artistry and content, right?
