In the interview, George says that the Beatles trip to India was about "18 months ago," which dates this to around October 1969, just after the release of Abbey Road.

Makes more sense. I only posted the date that was listed in the recording. Not sure why it was so hard for David Wigg to keep track of dates, haha.

They must have the interview date wrong as George is discussing the Abbey Road Album and the songs on it. It's nice to hear George quoting a Paul lyric though.

Abbey Road was released in September 1969, so they were probably still in process on it when this interview was recorded

They'd barely started recording Abbey Road in March '69 - easily checkable.

This is from October 8, 1969...NOT March 1, 1969.

You are right because he mentions the India trip being 18 months ago and he is talking about Abbey Road songs which would not have been possible in March of 1969.

@@Beatleken1 No, it doesn't, because later in the interview George makes it perfectly clear that he is quoting "Paul's song". This interview is obviously post-Abbey Road, dated to Oct 8 1969 at www.beatlesinterviews.org/db1969.1008.beatles.html

Sadly, George didn't stick to the "no drugs or alcohol" policy. And before anyone calls me on this. . .watch "Get Back," where George is seen (with the other Beatles) requesting a glass of white wine in-studio. Also, his fondness for cocaine---which fried his voice on his 1974 American tour---is well-documented. So, yes, Lennon was a hypocrite about peace. And Harrison was a cafeteria Hindu.
@newt08307 жыл бұрын
maybe George came up with the line and Paul copped it....never know
@strathman75015 жыл бұрын
When you listen to the whole interview you will know, because after 12:37 George is talking about "Paul's song": ""The story behind that was, like Paul sung 'You Never Give Me Your Money.' I think, because whatever you're involved with rubs off and influences you. 'You Never Give Me Your Money' is, I think, during all these business things that we had to go through to sort out the past, so it came out in Paul's song."

I love George but for someone so spiritual, he wasn't half concerned about money. He was very fortunate to not be working in a shit job down a mine or whatever and he's complaining about heavy taxes when he's in a very privileged position. Typical hippy mentality. Not happy to share money from his privekedged position
