plot twist: Christopher Nolan is colour blind, he can't see red and other effective colours. so he uses blue always

not color grading, color timing. Since he shoots on film, its the chemicals and timing of the processing that gives his movies their unique look

I remember driving over seventy miles to see this movie in 70mm. It was worth it. I will never forget how loud this movie was. It wasn't needlessly loud like most action movies. It conveyed the panic and near hopelessness of war while maintaining a PG-13 rating quite well. Hans Zimmer's use of Shepard Tone in his score (as well on the part of the sound designers) ratcheted up the tension and as a result, I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end despite knowing the real story behind Dunkirk.

This movie should have won best picture. The suspenseful atmosphere it gives off is amazing. I love watching movies in theaters because of how you can feel what everyone else is feeling, and I totally should have watched this movie in theaters. The atmosphere of the room would have been unreal.

Hearing the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine roaring overhead will never fail to make the hairs on my arms stand up. The sound of resistance and eventually, liberation. Loved that the film made good use of the planes!

I absolutely hate the 16:9 aspect ratio. I wish he had done it in at least 2:0 or something wide like that and yes I know, there are different versions but, when Nolan and Hoytema shot it, they shot it for IMAX and so when you cut it to a more wide aspect ratio, you lose detail that you necessarily wouldn't if you shot it for a wider aspect ratio.
