For a film filmed in only a month, this movie came out an absolute masterpiece. I would argue this is one of the best horror movies of all time. There's so much depth to it. A wave of emotions throughout. It was fascinating to watch, especially the films second act.

Could you tell me what does make Mandy so special to you? I really had tried to watch this movie with an open mind, but didn't manage to see what is so special about it.

@@wernerheisenberg9756 it is definitely not an easy movie and the first half of the movie almost drags, but I think that belongs in the movie. It is a rape and revenge style of movie and often the love interest gets killed in the first few minutes but Mandy takes its time to establish Mandy as a character and human and as the driving force for Red's revenge. The second half is a drug fulled fantasy horror trip like Ive never seen before. The music, cinematography and overall aesthetic are out of this world. Furthermore Mandy is full of meaning. It is a re-telling of the greek mythology, how Kronos dethroned Uranos and how Kronos was consumed by madness and dethroned by Zeus. Also it has a lot of religious themes about the antichrist and the downfall of the male ego. It is a story about grief and world consuming sadness. I hope I could give a little insight.

@@SuperPatinator I'm not that certain about the symbolism, but what I feel is that the personal themes about the cycle of vengeance and self-destruction are much stronger and would probably resonate with more people. You really feel the protagonist descending progressively into madness, becoming in a way as savages as the people he wants to take revenge from as the story progresses.
