You won't belive the beauty of this hidden gem in the Philippines! We had a date at this romantic fairytale spot hidden in the mountains of the Philippines Province.
The atmosphere reminded me so much of Hungary! We also found and tried some unique local fruits that we've never seen before!

I'm Susie and I was born in Hungary. Although I used to live in the Philippines for 4 years, I spent an unexpectedly long time back in my home country due to the Pandemic.
2022 has brought the change I've been waiting for and now I'm back in the Philippines to further explore the local life and the country's beautiful destinations, food, and culture.
Thank you for joining me on my adventures!

Thanks for the translation, I’ve only watched once so far, but I missed what the word meant. I knew it was obviously something Pixel finds irresistible! 🦎 Ingenious! Susie is such a lovely Hungarian-Fil combo of wise & adorable. I wonder what word she will employ in future when she & Jonathan take photos of their baby/ies?

Ladies from hungary are beautiful. I met someone in Malaysia who’s hungarian I remember her on you. Curly wavy hair and pretty. She’s also fun to be with her. She wanted to visit the Philippines and I want to tour her around someday but we already lost communication.

You guys are the real thing. No pretenses, just real and true. As a Filipino married to a beautiful and loving Russian woman I can tell you Susie that you're married to a very good Filipino man. And your husband is married to not just a beautiful and loving Hungarian woman, but a really beautiful person inside and out. Good luck and best wishes to you both

9:05 Those are pandan fruits (sometimes called "hala fruit" in English, because pandan are called "hala" in Hawaiian). You can actually eat it directly. It tastes and feels like pineapple, sweet but tart. You eat it by removing the spikes one by one and eating the lower part. It has those microscopic needle-like calcium crystals like pineapple, so your mouth feels raw after eating too much. Which is why it's rarely eaten, and most people just drink the tea made from it (the crystals break down in heat). P.S. It's a different species from the pandan leaves used to flavor buko pandan. But it's still a type of pandan, commonly used to weave baskets, hats, and banig (sleeping mats). P.P.S. Figs = balete fruit. Rarely eaten in the Philippines because when fresh, they actually have parasitic wasps inside of them. LOL. So they're a bit icky. Most of the species here are also a bit bland. Unlike the ones eaten in the Middle East. P.P.P.S. _Annona_ is literally the scientific name (genus) of atis (as well as other related fruits: guyabano, soursop, custard apple, cherimoya, etc.). Haha. That's just a pink/brown cultivar I think.

@@SusieinthePhilippines It's native to the Philippines. But very very rarely sold. LOL. You might have better luck going to a beach and finding pandan trees with fruits. XD

@Jim Twotowns I don’t think they’re Carmelite, but possibly, I only did a quick skim of the monastery website; I can’t say with certainty that they’re formally Benedictine, but they appear to model their Rule on the Benedictine, i.e. the website specifically mentions “Ora et labora”. They’re a homegrown, founded in Phil monastic community, “Servants of the Risen Christ.”
@wintersojourn9356

p.s. Their founders were monks, under the authority of the diocesan Bishop, it seems to my review. They expanded to include community of nuns, both contemplative & apostolic charisms.
@whagahkho3320
@whagahkho3320 Жыл бұрын
@@wintersojourn9356"ora et labora" is a latin word that means: pray and work. "pray and work" is a motto of the Benedictine order. Benedict ..."was renowned for handing on to his monks a balanced way of life - particularly with respect to contemplative prayer and active work. As a Catholic who studied theology, It is also a Encyclical letter Laudato Si section 126. We can also look to the great tradition of monasticism. Originally, it was a kind of flight from the world, an escape from the decadence of the cities. The monks sought the desert, convinced that it was the best place for encountering the presence of God. That “best place” was also the experience of Moses, Elijah, and of course, Jesus when he sought solitude with his Father. Later, Saint Benedict of Norcia proposed that his monks live in community, combining prayer and spiritual reading with manual labor (ora et labora). Seeing manual labor as spiritually meaningful proved revolutionary. Personal growth and sanctification came to be sought in the interplay of recollection and work. This way of experiencing work makes us more protective and respectful of the environment; it imbues our relationship to the world with a healthy sobriety. If the monastic ideal of manual labor was revolutionary in its founding days, it certainly remains countercultural in the modern era.

Yes, I know. ☺️but from quick skim though Benedictine Mott’s was espoused on their website, it wasn’t clear to me that they have a Benedictine charter. Pax Christi
