I don't know if I like the "regular guy turns out to have been a retired elite agent the entire time" trope that is getting a bit overused in action movies these days. In Taken and John Wick it was relatively fresh as a concept, but it was getting pretty tired by the time Nobody came out, and I found that movie suffered a bit from it. But a group of secret agents who call themselves Beekeepers, only for one to retire and become a literal beekeeper is so on the nose it's a little cringey to be honest.
@hardcutreviews8 ай бұрын
Yeah, Taken and Wick did these concepts really well and this is far from that. All it did was entertain us for a few hours without pissing us off. No new ground covered here.

Based on your recommendation I just watched it. And my only complaint is I wanted more of it! It was a legit kick ass movie. Like you said “everything the expendables wishes it was”. Lol. And Jeremy Irons was awesome! I’d watch a sequel to this. Or even a “prequel”. Something that shows how the beekeepers system actually works. It may be tuff to do a prequel with Staham, and it may be even tougher to figure out how to fit him in a sequel. But if they figured it out with John McLain and Die Hard I’m pretty sure they could come up with something for this.
@hardcutreviews8 ай бұрын
Yeah it did its job. Entertained us for a couple hours. If they do another one we’ll be there for it.

I usually really like Statham movies but this one was rough. I enjoyed the action, of course, but the story was too big for what it was... and now there's no opportunity for it to be a series since it links to the VERY TOP of the food chain. Also, as an avid fan of Criminal Minds I was really bothered by the main character: The woman, her partner was fine. Her lack of professionalism, the on-the-case-despite-deeply-personal-connections violation, inconsistency in leadership and skill level (like, girl, you're an cybecrimes analyst, why are you blowing past the SWAT team in jeans like you Rambo?) It all bothered me. ALSO- what a missed opportunity to not call this movie Queen Slayer and make the president totally complicit. Too similar to current optical events maybe?

Found this film much more entertaining than I thought it'd be. Hilariously entertaining to be honest, seeing Statham tie a man to a truck and send it off a bridge into water to drown, or have him with clapping along with the scammers only to beat the living sh*t out of them straight after was just so hilariously ridiculous that I loved every second of it 😂 So glad you two could review this. Certainly not a groundbreaking film or anything. But if you just let yourself go with it then it's a fun watch. (Also I love "The Rock" poster in the background. Brilliant brilliant film)

The actor who plays the villain has a name you know? It might be more reasonable to use it than disrespect him so much. So Josh Hutcherson in case you didn't know how to look it up. BTW a version of the scam was played on Josh's great grandmother. So no film credit for Hutcherson in your review although you didn't do that for the other actors.

Oh, his name is Josh? We had no idea. Thanks for educating us. Who should we issue the apology to? You seem to be on a first name basis with him. Could you tell him we're sorry?
