Actually, the chickens have a really nice run outside the coop, and it's covered with a canopy to prevent hawk attacks, and chain link fence to keep all other predators out. What circumstances will you not collect wild honey and can you run wild comb through the uncapping machine?
@JeffHorchoff Жыл бұрын
The only reason for not collecting wild honey is if the comb has been contaminated with poison. Any wild honey is not run through machines, it is processed by hand, and the video link below shows how I do that. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnyzh42ZaZqEZtE

When you vacuum bees out of a sick hive like this one, are you concerned that you may also pick up wax moth larvae? Love your videos, by the way!
@slypig242 жыл бұрын
I'd like to know the answer to that question too.
@JeffHorchoff2 жыл бұрын
Firstly, the hive was not "sickly," the hive that had previously been there was the sickly one and that one was gone. The wax moth was not on any of the comb the bees were working but on the part that had been abandoned. So no, I was not concerned with bringing back eggs or larva from the wax moth. Also, the wax that I took from the abandoned part of the hive was melted down, it still is good and the eggs and larva don't survive the rendering process. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

if you are vacuuming bees doesn't the moth larvae and hive beetles get in the vacuum trap too?

The beetles do get into the vacuum but are killed after the bees are released, check out the link below showing how that is possible. Because wax moth eggs and larva on on the comb, they are not vacuumed. Thanks for watching. God's peace Erinne. Mr. Ed kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpzWhIFuhadlm6s

@JeffHorchoff2 жыл бұрын
In all the years I have been wrangling bees with a bee vac, bringing back larva, or eggs of the beetle or moth from the bee vac have never arisen. However, none of the contaminated comb is used in the hive as this will certainly contain eggs or larva. Thanks for watching. God's peace James. Mr. Ed
