I’m from Australia, here we call beetle spins, jig spinners. They’re one of my favourite lures and yes I have more success with the gold blades. I still catch with the silver ones but not as much as the gold ones Great video and hi from Queensland Australia. 👍

@@FishYanker I catch a lot of Australian Bass & Barramundi in our local creeks and dams. I would really like to catch a Sooty Grunter, a Jungle Perch and a Murray Cod on a jig spinner too although the Cod would probably destroy it if I got on to one of the metre plus specimens lol. I’d love to come to the States one day and have a go at a Llargemouth, Smallmouth, Crappie and some of those chunky bream/bluegills you were catching in one of your other videos. Maybe one day. 👍

Yes sir. Long time ago an old crappie fisherman told me gold blades were the best for Crappie even on a full size spinner. I started using them after that and had had great success. I've tested the silver and gold. I catch a lot more crappie on gold blades.

Since you add your own jig heads, you could try using some of the crappie magnet fin spin underspin jig heads and then you can have two spinning blades at once, would look like a small school of bait fish.

Followed the link, got the gold blades on the way from Amazon. I've always used Johnson beetle spins, just like them. Caught tons of big bluegill and shell cracker on it. But the spot I hit today never produces crappie on it. However the gold blade, worm tippet on a blue ice 1/16th Oz jighead....= bucket full of crappie there for the 1st time.

I’m a guy pushing 70 and I got to say the most successful lure is a Beetle Spin or a Plastic Worm of some sort. On my Beetle Spin I have used Road Runners with an under spin as a jig head. Also I use Gulp Waxies in chartreuse or pink. They stick on the hook a whole lot better that the Crappie Niblets. Just my personal experience. I also soak any Bluegill or Crappie plastics in the Gulp Juice. That stuff works…
@FishYanker
@FishYanker Жыл бұрын
Sounds like something I need to try. I appreciate that information and I appreciate you watching. Thank you Jeffrey Finn
@LayLow83
@LayLow83 Жыл бұрын
@@FishYanker Thank You Also. I have a side comment on the Gulp. I don’t know if you have ever used it, but my experience has taught me those little bottles leak after they have first been opened. How I don’t know. I swear I put the lid on tight. I have learned through experience to put it in a separate container with a paper towel underneath. I have 4 Gulp bottles in a small Glad Plastic Container. At the end of open water season I hand wash all bottles. I place a paper towel on the bottom and then add my 4 Gulp bottles and seal the lid. Even if I don’t touch that container for 6 months that Gulp Juice will find a way to leak out and get absorbed by the paper towel. I’m telling you this because if you just put a bottle in your tackle box, I guarantee sooner or later you will have a stinky mess. But hands down that Gulp attractant works. Tight Lines & Happy Fishing.
@FishYanker
@FishYanker Жыл бұрын
Yes sir. I don't want a big mess all over my other tackle. I will find something to carry them in. Thank you for the warning ⚠️🙂

For the past 2 summers my most successful plastic is a Red with white streamers mini tube jig. My 2 PB while fishing for Crappies is a 23” LM Bass and a 27” Pike. I have had to increase my line to a Sufix 832 10lb with a 20lb fluorocarbon leader because of the Pike biting or breaking my line. I have broken 2 Fenwick light rods because the Pike just attack the beetle spin with such powerful intensity. Especially if I have a yellow plastic on the jig. In my lake Pike are insane for yellow grub type plastics. Tight Lines Buddy.

Thank you. some of my minnows are bigger than I really like. I just asked for Crappie minnows, and We get a little bit of everything. But yeah I prefer smaller minnows on the beetle spin. But I have caught plenty of crappie on big minnows also. Glad you are getting some tips. Hope you catch some good ones Randy.
