I had the 1979 silver/black 2.3 turbo Cobra. I sure do miss it

I loved my 1979 Mustang Ghia Notchback. It had the Capri 2.8 v6 and a 4 Speed stick. Good performance/economy compromise. In the era I owned it, it was a good performer.

Yes sir, this was the beginning of a car that will become a cult classic. This was a new era for Ford, and a new come back for a different kind of Mustang after the Mustang II.

Actually the V6 and L6 came with either a C3 or a C4, I have no idea what implied which transmission was installed. The 2.3L had the C3 and later the A4LE which is a C3 with OD.

First year Fox body was 1979. It was my second car. My first one was 1983. Good old times as a teenager/early 20's

Definitely a good time. Now because of their amazing light chassis, we are now swapping modern coyote 5.0L ford engine in them once we stiffen chassis. I am glad you shared your memory with us. Thank you for commenting.

@MCSC GREENWHEELS Yes , that's what I've been seeing. Are the original 2 valve 5.0 engines still bring used? Thanks for posting this vid. Brought back good memories.

@@osos231 Mostly I see a lot of Coyote 5.0L engine swap. people are using the F150 coyote engine putting in a mustang engine cam, and dropping them into these light foxbody mustang. Once you do the 5 lugs swap, subframe connectors, all around disc brakes, front tubular K-members dropping the factory ones, which always save weight. You have got a fox 2,900 pound with a 400hp engine, which can be bumped up with cold air intake or just add forced induction easily making over 600hp. Now you have to add the maximum motorsport pan hard bar, torque arm, Mickey thompson tire, 255 front, and 315 rear, the complete stiffler stiffen kits, a T56 six speed manual transmission to handle that torque. You have got a fox body hot rod for a good time.

@MCSC GREENWHEELS That's awesome! You brought me back to good ol' days. Thanks for describing a fox body build . You basically gave away an entire build lol. First thing that was always talked about 30 years ago was " get subframe connectors if you ain't got 'em" lol. That coyote swap from the F150 is pretty smart and cheap too. How do the motor mounts line up to the coyote engine? Back then I'd always see Heads, cam and Paxton supercharger. Most notorious build . I mean, we still doing that to most American platforms I'd say.

@@osos231 These are really good time for us fox body mustang lovers and owners, companies like AJE, Maximum motorsports, Chrome Moly K Member Kit. There are companies out there like LMR, CJ Pony, NPD, etc who sell these tubular K-members with engine mount for the coyote motor too. I have bought a lot of part from facebook marketplace used, and power coat them to use. Restomod is awesome because you keep the body style you love, and the underneath all modernized.

A cult classic is just a clever way of saying this car is a classic and have a following. Cult classics are movies that have a dedicated and passionate fanbase, often despite being overlooked or rejected by the mainstream. Learn how they became cult classics, what makes them different from regular classics, and see some examples of famous cult films.
