Brings back so many memories of my 79 Cobra. It sat for a decade untouched. Congratulations on getting it running again 🐍

It's a cool car. Love fox bodies, this one was just a little far gone for the time and money I have right now. The plan was for it to be the "track car." I'll find the right one someday.

Car looks like it's ready for a Mad Max movie! I love it. I am hoping to someday get a fox body Mustang, even if it looks a bit rough around the edges. It gives it character. I'm obsessed with 79-93 Mustangs.

It was a fun project once we got it moving lol. The hard part was being a long way from parts stores and tools

Very cool find! Down the road if you decide what is a permanent track car you should start renting out laps with the car. Would be cool to let people get a little track time
@Greenlightfilming Жыл бұрын
That was the idea behind this one. I've got a line on another car that might be really good for the track. More to come on that.

I had that same car. 79 Mustang Cobra 302 2 barrel with an automatic. That was my first fox body. I have an 88 GT vert nowadays. I really wish I kept that car.

The 79's had the one year only door handles at the bottom of the door which was cool. Check the bumpers, my old '79 Cobra had aluminum bumpers. My 1980 and 1981 had steel bumpers. Those cars have tons of potential.

Fox body Mustang has biggest potential moneywise if you want to build something from mild to wild... worldwide. Just my humble opinion.

I had to do some thinking and remembering for a bit. In theory my old '76 Mach 1 is still somewhere 30 min south of Duluth. Thought this one might have been it for a hot min. edit: second guessing whether it was a Cobra or Mach 1. It was set up with a late 60's 289 and a 4 speed with rear axle slappers tho. Never got it fully on the road.

Ah yes a rustang! I've worked on mustangs in restoration shop when I was 18-25 years old. I can tell you when they have rust they have rust in places that pretty much means they need structural repair! Only thing worse that a rustang to work on is a Corvette!

I was just starting to think it would make a great car for use at the track when you mentioned selling it. :(
@Greenlightfilming Жыл бұрын
It needs a ton of work before I would have considered putting anyone in it. Frankly, I don't have the time or money to make the Cobra "good". Made more sense to move on and find something better off from the start.
@thagerdorn2009 Жыл бұрын
Im sure you've said this in many videos, but what was the track originally designed for? Because its fairly small and i was just curious

It was built for go karts

@@Greenlightfilming oh that's awesome. I'm in Ohio and we don't have actual tracks like that for gp karts. That's sick! I can't wait to see the other track revived, will it be used for go karts? I found your channel from the Blue 80/81 Z28 video. I've had my 80 since April of 94. I was 3 and a half. It's my pride and joy. Survivor, all original. Need to pull the engine and refresh it.

Y’all flashing me back to -79~-80, and working at a Ford dealer. I honestly thought these were crap from the factory, combined with Ford and dealership service management, exasperated the turd factor. That’s not to say, that the potential wasn’t recognized, but, being new, the aftermarket hadn’t spooled up their R&D, and most new car buyers weren’t disposed to having to reinvent their new car to get their performance expectations, and became disenchanted. Then there was the posers, that thought as long as they showed up to the club with their “hot new car, with the graphics package”, they were pleased with themselves. Was also about the same time Mustang owners got the reputation for doing stupid sh*t, and wrecking in front of crowds and in public. Think you may have a foundation there, depending how much effort and what direction you plan on putting into it. Flipping it, is wise, I think.
