Ok sorry, how do you SKIP MISHA. He made history. Landed the first 3A quad toe in his earlier assignments, and landed the 3A eu 4S here. If you only focus on the same skaters over and over they'll all eventually retire and you'll have none of the young guard to talk about or who your viewers are invested in Kevin - as entertaining as he is, I'm extremely mixed on him because of how he supported his coaches during that SA scandal - Also, this isn't only his home country, its his home rink Grassl - its not just ugly it is bad technique. - his free is also bad. The VoiceOver says 'point' and he doesn't point The ice was really bad at this competition, which is why everyone struggled I love both of Yuma's programs this season Also Yuma beat Ilia in the free Also, I don't know if you noticed, but Ilia was singing through the entire program, his short is from his favorite artist If you've watched Ilia compete the rest of the season, it was absolutely clear that he was tired here and struggling. His skating skills regressed in his free, and it was much more of a jumping fest. Besides, when he got off the ice he shook his head at his dad. We knew Ilia was planning something (and I think its more than just the 6 different types of quads in a single program, my bet was on a 4+4 combo now that Misha landed a 3+3 combo) and it didn't turn out because his jumps were way shakier than they normally are. Go look at the protocol, every single jumping element was in red. Also, Ari is just totally wrong. The ISU has been rewarding tech over artistry for a long time. Huge part of why Yuzu retired from competitions and went pro. And male dancers aren't ballerinos, they are danseurs And how can you not talk about the rest of the women and only start in fourth? Disservice to Rino and Hana honestly, especially Rino who is just gorgeous but people don't talk about much. I think that different programs help push Kaori to be better. I think not staying with only your strengths is good to not be complacent Mone may be newer, but she won four continents last season and was high at worlds as well I really enjoy Mone, I hope she switches coaches because she's with the Eteri of Japan, Mie Hamada, right now. US Nats is going to be a bloodbath. Japanese nats too, but those always are

So happy you covered the Grand Prix but I have to write - what about Mikhail Shaidorov? He made history by just being in the final - the first ever from Kazakhstan, plus he made history AGAIN in the grand prix by being the first ever to land a 3A + Eu + 4S - which was his SECOND history making combination in like one month, since he previously landed a 3A + 4T at the grand prix de france. He did not medal, but his achievements were absolutely as incredible as all of the medalists. Also the audience reaction to his score at the GPF was classic ;)

I am not sure if that's really true , but it seems the men were struggling with the ice, which seemed to be hard for most of them ( yes, ice in differend rinks can have a huge impact on a skaters elements). More falls than usual for most of them, yuma slipping off his edge after he landed, ( partially strong ) underrotations with everyone, including Malinin, which could possibly stem from unstable edges before and after the jump... So that's my theory on that part. Also, Malinin was not underscored in comparison to the other skaters. The judges seemed rather strict at this competition, giving many of the top level skaters low levels for their spins and steps. Jumping mistakes that often go under the radar were also called out rather often.

I'm so happy Amber's finally performing to her capabilities and being on a winning streak so far. She still needs to improve her PCS scores and maybe up her technical content to be neck and neck with Kaori at her best, but scoring in the 140s again is a confidence booster for her. She should probably do a 3Lo + 3T instead of a solo 3Lo in the 2nd half of her free to add the extra points as well as adding a 2T to her opening triple axel. Considering Kaori's GOEs and PCS scores are much higher, Amber will need to improve on both aspects in order to beat Kaori even if she hits. I can't wait to see what she can do in Nationals, Worlds and possibly 4 Continents. Provided she does what she's capable of, she's well within shot of a world medal

For one thing, some things were just wrong, like Ilia falling on his 4A. You even showed how he landed the jump cleanly. You also simply skipped over some skaters without any explanation. This is especially incomprehensible with Misha, as you introduced every other place of the men and he made history several times that day. I don't watch Ice Dance either, but the couples are really good. Especially the Germans and the Japanese. You could at least mention it briefly, as well as the juniors. Then there were a lot of little things missing, such as Ilia wearing different costumes for the final than in the other stages of the Grand Prix. If you're not that interested in figure skating anymore, that's acceptable and perfectly fine, but then don't make a video about it.

Hey, I'll tell you a secret. The Russian women, all though with their issues (politically) are not to be forgotten. They are the BEST, they all work hard on their quadruple jumps and land them in competition. Their skating is supreme, their ballet training appears in every move on the ice with their level of maturity that most other female skaters don't, until later in their late teen years. Once they get their problematic issues corrected, they will be back. So too will the men and the pairs in competition. So yes, the Americans should take every advantage to win whatever they can, it may just be for the moment, and the Russians will have had time to learn new skating skills, yet to see... Oh, let's not forget the superb Russian skaters, skating for the United States! 😀

@@letitiakearney2423 I actually wasn't commenting about the now, perhaps I should have. I've never had a great admiration for our American figure skaters (I myself was trained and at the time I admired Babylonia/Gardner, Fratianni, Witt, to name a few). That being said, The Russians have always had a beautiful and disciplined way of skating, Eteri aside from this. Who can deny that? Probably the Russian haters. The Japanese and Chinese have come a long way, and I admire their perseverance in developing their discipline. It's probable that the Russians are on a down slide right now, and it's understandable with all that is happening there. They may never recover from the stress of their scandal, again Russians are a very formidable and resilient people. I'm hoping they do, it's great to see every great skating nation competing against one another. I personally, am not a fan of the American athletes right now, the incessant politics in the sports have killed the attractiveness. Pairs 2024 just made me realize what a joke the Olympics have become, like a forum for world politics.

You need to brush up on your figure skating history if you’re surprised to see Americans at the top in singles skating.
