Love this version so much, I wish vivian’s part stayed on the album… i think there’s so more more TBII could’ve done to be the best in Mikes catalogue, but oh well, still better than anything today ;)

Unfortunately, at the time of recording TBII, Stanshall was in one of his drunken messes and told Oldfield to go away, citing that the original album was only successful because of his contribution. Luckily, he sobered up and apologised and so we got this alternative take released as a single.

Not on the album version of TBII - that was Alan Rickman, because Stanshall had drunkenly fallen out with Oldfield at the time. But VS was the original MC on the original TB.

Lovely. I know the audio is the same as on the CD single, but was there ever a version with the full set of instruments on it? They've left a few out (e.g. Glockenspiel and The Venetian Effect) to save a bit of time and make it work as a radio edit, but presumably he must have read out the full set when he belatedly recorded his version? I'm still hoping for TB4, with MC Matt Berry (as Toast)!
