I used to have that same bandsaw. It's not a bad saw so long as you keep it in good adjustment and respect its limits. Wish I still had it. It was sold at an estate auction my mom held after dad died. The saw wasn't supposed to be sold as it was mine. But I was busy answering questions on some equipment being sold by the other auctioneer and by the time I found out it had been sold whoever bought it had already taken it and left. It had been a Christmas present from my parents and it meant a lot to me. Best wishes to you.

So sorry for you, man. I just got this one off of Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago. An older couple was moving and didn't want to move the band saw. I was impressed with how detailed the owner's manual is. And it seems like a pretty good band saw after everything is calibrated properly. My Marketplace feed has shown me several other Craftsman band saws (either the same or very similar models) since buying this one. While it wouldn't carry the same sentimental value as the unit you got from your dad, I wonder if you'd be able to find and use a similar model.

The "little cube-like things" are called brushes! @12:06 you are missing a "key" that goes in those grooves. It is a small square key that slides into the groove on the saw and the groove in the pulley that the set screw tightens down on.

@@waynebutler7813 That makes sense. Thanks!

I have that same saw and the belt/tire has come off a couple of times. I clean the wheel with brake parts cleaner and glue it back on with automotive trim cement. The blade guides are a real pain to adjust and that is why I hate to change blade sizes. The saw as old as it is still works just fine but is not the best designed.

I may have to look into that. What brand of automotive trim cement do you typically use? How long does it stay after you glue it in?
