A question: I mostly see you glueing without clamping. Does it happen off screen or is it really sturdy enough? Thanks for an answer. As always: Great Video! To me, you are the „my mechanics“ of woodworking!
@sirmo6672 ай бұрын
The glue is stronger than the wood so something that isn’t taking a load (like someone sitting on it), isn’t going to require clamping. The glue is enough for the type of project.
@MrDaneBrammage2 ай бұрын
It really depends on the fit. Glue doesn't need pressure to cure, but most types of glue are bad at filling gaps. Glue manufacturers recommend large clamping loads to squeeze together less-than-perfect joints so that the glue isn't trying to span large gaps. If the joint fits well, lots of pressure isn't necessary.
@jisakukobo2 ай бұрын
Clamps are not necessary for parts that are not under pressure. However, I omit the parts where clamps are used in my videos. This is because it would make the videos very long.

Grazie.

Very impressive, as usual. I'd love to know what the planning process is for this, how do you come up with these ideas? Do you do CAD drawings beforehand or do you just grab some wood and start cutting, and the version we see is after the other ten prototypes have been discarded?

Liked everything except that you glued the electronic speed control circuitry to the base. That's a lazy way out with no ability to repair if circuit fails. It (the PCB) has mounting holes and it wouldn't take much effort to mount it properly with screws and stand-offs. You also need to work on your soldering skills and use heat shrink tubing on your solder joints. This would make it match the rest of your excellent work.

Always orient your power switch so that any falling object striking down wards on the switch will turn off the device and not on. This is why most switches turn off when moved down ward.
@madaxe79Ай бұрын
Not in my experience, where I live, all switches are pushed down to turn on, light switches, power switches, etc.
@gothesouthwayАй бұрын
@@madaxe79 we have some switches like that too. Like hall light switch that can be turned on/off from either end of the hall. All ways follow code in your area and follow best practices for safety.
@madaxe79Ай бұрын
@@gothesouthway I literally mean ALL switches. My Amp switches even, they all push down to power up or tale off standby. Welder power switches, machine tool power switches, auxiliary switches in cars, boats, etc. everything here is down for on. I think the idea is that you have to make a conscious decision to turn something off, so you get used to turning switches off when you’re finished using the equipment. I might be wrong, but I know that it’s very, very rare to ever switch something up to turn it on, and I cannot think of a single example of it.
