A few passing trains, a couple of tunnels and some sights on the old main line.

Another gem with mandatory headphones and full volume. Pretty thought provoking as well with all the historical bridges and buildings etc of past generations....This goes straight to favorites.....Thanks (the only thing I was missing was my chair not vibrating)

Great video. This video makes it obvious ... this route will never be double-tracked again under and over all those heritage structures.

@kellingc Thanks, it's a beautiful old piece of railway with lots of stone bridges and buildings.

The tracks are bi directional. One side is rated for 160km/h the other is slower. Trains get the fast track or not according to the train type and its schedule.

It is bi directional and running on the right is seen in this clip as us being on the slow track to facilitate the passenger service on the fast track.
@brackenboy63217 жыл бұрын
Very shortsighted that in former days it was double track with very few trains daily and now it is single track with many trains daily. At some future stage they will have to reinstate the double track. Thanks for posting.

We are travelling at 80km/h. Looks can be deceptive as you get higher off the ground.

Interesting in that on the double line sections you seem to run on the right side rather than the left as we do in NSW. Is this normal on all double line in Vic? I notice signals on both sides though, is this set up for bi-directional running?

They're not usually this slow, only during peak hour in Melbourne metro when they're stuck behind metropolitan services.

Good views of a once great line, built in the 1860's by pioneers with foresight, ruined in the 2010's by bean-counters with no sight. We are regularly delayed waiting for passing services in opposing directions. Brilliant! Just waiting for the first disaster from a high-speed points failure... Not if, but when... B-(
@smitajky6 жыл бұрын
But you miss the whole point. In the city the cars use 300 hp to race off from one red light and then have to brake hard for the next one. With this fast train we can now get from one delay to the next faster than ever before.

Interesting video for sure however the progress was painfully slow Ha!. Pac-Nat are now running intermodals through the suburbs of Adelaide at 8okm/hr on S.G concrete sleepers.Hope they stay on track.

I bought a "Trains" Magazine last week which was all just maps of the North American Railways: 1 map showed Double Track in 1950; another showed CTC or other traffic control now. Until Granville, Australia's worst railway accident occured on the Bendigo Line (nothing to do with heritage). I commend Trains's latest issue- with maps of where the coal goes, where the passengers go, what happened to sundry railways, Pittsburg 1945, and what AMTRAK does ... to anyone interested.

You did a wonderful edit job on this, keep my intrest and the 18 minutes didn't seem long at all. Even though I'm in America, and model the Southern Pacific mostly, this line looks like it would be fun to model.

Yeah, one's a bigger piece of mindless shit than the other one. I'm talking about passenger trains and locomotives. I would actually like to see the companies allow the freight vehicles to be used as a canvas for quality work, just leave the people stuff alone.
