I’ve been working full time since I was 21 and almost 40. I am so drained right now and never stopped working. Taking two weeks off once a year is unreasonable and not enough. I am thinking of taking a sabbatical. I’ve lost myself and purpose and Monday always comes. I need a break.

You speak so calmly and eloquently. Me and my bf just turned 30. We are actually in amazing high paying corporate jobs but I personally feel so dead. I’ve lost that spark and hungry for all things life so we decided to travel for a year. We are scared out of our minds, especially in case we ruin our relationship with our employer and/or can’t find a job after coming back. But like you and many others we’ve spoken to, have said that it’s the best thing they did. So we are going to try to make the jump

I've been working, furthering my education, taking trainings, and joining boards since 2010 w/ no breaks. My time is now January 2024.

I’ve been working for 22 years without taking a career break. I think there’s only 3 ways that it’s possible and they are 1. You have savings 2. You will continue to be paid by your employer 3. You have income from another source or you have a partner with an income to support you both. I’m definitely thinking about taking a career break for 3-6 months one day when the time is right.

Many people are taking a year or longer to recharge.
