I resigned during my probation period. This was my second job. I was working in my 1st company for about 5 years. As time goes by, I realised that there was not much career progression/development opportunities in my role. Hence, I took a leap of faith and went to search for other job opportunities. When I chanced upon this new job, I was delighted because the base pay was pretty good. When I started the 'intensive' training during probation period, I experienced a 'shift shock'. Or should I say, a work culture shock because the work pace is so different from my previous workplace, and it was fast to a point where I felt overwhelmed and disconnected when coping with my work. Thats when I realised that it was a poor job fit. Looking back, I shouldn't have solely used money as a criterion, but to understand my areas of work interest, skill sets, strengths and weaknesses better before I pursue Or take up any job offer. In the end, I resigned during my probation in my 2nd job. I suffered the early stages of mental Burnout because I experienced a work culture shock when I transit from one job to another, and the workpace and culture was so different. As a result, I was overwhelmed with so much workload at one go! I had no choice but to resign in my second job because my health was taking a toll…

Thank you for this video! I cannot believe it does not have many views and comments yet. So let my be the first one. This video is exactly what I was searching for, very useful tips and thoughts. I also felt like I connected with you, thanks for being open :) I am in a difficult period in my life where I have set a goal of saving an X amount of money to be able to quit my job for at least 6 months as I feel burnout and a bit lost following a set of life events. Your video encouraged me to stick to my plan, thank you again for this!

This was so helpful. I’m also planning a sabbatical and I have a date. I so burned out that I’m not feeling any guilt. Can’t wait to start. I’m taking at least a year, but I’m not sure yet if I will be documenting my travels as I go. Looking forward to seeing what you do during this series. 🙏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾

This content was great! I really appreciated this video aswell as I'll be resigning tomorrow 😬🥳 I'm definitely terrified but also excited and hopeful. I've saved just enough for 6 months but outside of that I have no real plan 😅 cannot wait for whatever comes next!

Congrats. How it's going so far?

@@TheCelmap Honestly, it's been character building. Getting back to work has been much harder than I anticipated. I really enjoyed the time off, I feel like I made the most of it but it went by very quickly. I've just started interviewing for new jobs but I'm realising I'll have to take a step back career wise from where I was. Still, I don't regret my decision to take a break, it's what I wanted and needed at the time. Good luck and save as much as you can if you're planning to do the same 😊👍🏽

@@pamk3394 thank you so much for realistic answer. I am not only even thinking on sabatical but want to stop work altogether. I work in a very nice field and the company pays well, however, the job is extremely demanding and competitive. I'm so drained phisically and mentally and missing long hours sleeping so bad. I'm saving, investing and trying to be prepare to never return to work and run my own business in my terms. Want to retire so bad lol but I'm only 34. Need more 7 years to feel confortable on my investings, I already struggle so much in my childhood and did study alot and work hard for this job. Will still going on and see the result of this journey. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi, first of I am so glad this popped up on my feed because I am planning to quit my job in 2025. If you don't mind me asking a quick qn. How did you end up moving to Oxford successfully? I am based in Chicago and am interested to move to UK but not sure if I need a job in order to stay longer than a few months.

Congratulations on your imminent life change! I was able to move to Oxford because I hold dual nationality (UK & US). If you have a US passport, I think you can stay in the UK up to 6 months without a visa. There are some other countries in Europe that are easier to acquire longer-term visas for - I think Holland has a popular program that's not super-hard to participate in!

Hello, how much did you save for your sabbatical?
@805hiker22 жыл бұрын
I’m planning on taking a sabbatical (after working full time for over 25 years) but in order to be able to stretch it out to at least a year I plan to move back in with my mom who is 88 and lives alone and is 100% ok with the idea. I plan to work a few more months to continue saving money. Terrified and excited like most people say they feel.
