After the first couple days of PT in military boot camp, you can barely move. Somehow, when you’re getting screamed at and you figure out a way to keep working, the soreness goes away and you’re waaay stronger than before

I do the same exact thing, upper body, next day lower then break. The difference is that on lower body day i still dona light workout on my upper body, maybe a set of pushups or some other form of calisthenics that require activation of most of your muscles.

Typically it’s better if ur training the same muscle group twice a week, have one hard day (less reps more weight) and then have a easy day (more reps, less weight). There’s no way u can go heavy 2x a week and be able to maintain that every single workout. More reps is more blood flow, which is good to change things up

Just started seriously working out for the first time in my life, muscles are still slightly sore a week after the workout, 3rd day after was the worst. Is that normal? And will the soreness level after workouts decrease rapidly if I keep doing it consistently?
@neel2451
@neel2451 Жыл бұрын
@@yamchathewolf7714 I’m not an expert but I don’t think your muscles should still be sore a week after a single workout. Are you getting 8 hours of sleep? Are you consuming enough protein? Are you adequately resting on rest days? And yes as time goes on your body will get used to the workout and become less sore.
@yamchathewolf7714
@yamchathewolf7714 Жыл бұрын
@@neel2451 Yeah dude I sleep on average 9 hours a day, eat well and can't do any exercise on rest days because the muscles are so sore and weak. Since I recently started working out I've only had 4 hard workouts thus far and every time the muscles took about a week to heal, even after that rest period I felt a little weaker. I guess it's because I haven't exercised in years.

Just like shin splints, people usually rest, but if you walk a mile a day with shin splints you’ll actually recover about a week sooner. The more you work out the muscle the faster it recovers. But sometimes if it’s too sore it’ll be best to take a day or two off until the soreness goes down to shred the muscle again
@oldvlognewtricks
@oldvlognewtricks Жыл бұрын
Depending on your walking form… If your gait is the cause of the shin sprints then it can be counterproductive. Same with any specific movement pattern. The principle of balanced mobilisation/strengthening as treatment is sound, for sure - I have just seen numerous people suffering from terrible habitual movement and posture.

I’ve had a lay off for around 5wks, I’ve completed a full body workout on Monday, did light weights for volume, felt great while doing my workout. Every muscle that was sore after has healed to a certain degree but my quads are still cramping, put me off doing my workout on Wednesday but I’m going to get a workout done on Thursday, full body, light weights for volume but this time I may have to do less reps this time. DOMS can be so annoying 😁

Loll I feel you man. I hit calves so hard one time 2 days later I woke up and couldn’t stand flat footed. Had to walk on my tippy toes for the whole day and stretch occasionally to help with the pain. Learned my lesson that day
@ZrankFappaH
@ZrankFappaH Жыл бұрын
DOMS is also a sign though that you’re progressing, as the muscle fibres have definitely been torn. There’s so much data suggesting that rest days and good sleep help with gains. And then there’s so much other information arguing that training lighter whilst sore, is better than leaving the muscles to heal through rest.

So sounds like training a sore muscle is in a sense muscle therapy. Getting more nutrients to the sore muscle while its sore by continuing to move it enough to get maybe a pump? Just not so much you continue to damage it further.
