Beretta quality is hard to beat. And the shoot ability of the 92 platform out of the box is simply wonderful. Some don’t like it because it feels to large to them. I always found it to be excellent.

The other video I've watched was the Fact vs Fantasy on the M9/92 and I can honestly say that is the first video I've seen that was so factual. The slide issue was not a gun issue but rather an ammo issue and you presented that quite thoroughly. I also learned a few other items of interest from that video and now this video is quite extensive as well. You are quite knowledgeable on these guns and your experience shows quite well. THANK YOU.

The Beretta 92 was my first "Duty gun" but we were required (at the time) to purchase DAO guns off a dept. approved list per general order, Chicago Police Dept. I liked the safety aspect of the trigger but DAO was horrible and in training officers actually had such finger fatigue from the DAO triggers that they literally could not pull the trigger after a few hundred rounds. Years later, striker fired Glocks were approved and without the New York trigger so I finished my career with a Glock 21 but I really missed my 92. Now that I'm retired and I can carry whatever I desire I decided to get another 92 but DA/SA for sure. Oddly enough, even though I now live in Tennessee, very few gun shops in my area carry any Beretta handguns at all. I had to order one and I ordered this very model. It's ironic that Tennessee has no waiting limit but I'm still waiting for it to be delivered to the shop! I will be installing night sights and a steel guide rod. Nice review, it was the deciding factor in my purchase.

I've been thinking about a new pistol, and I'm having a hard time deciding whether the 92GTS Centurion is worth $100 more than the 92X Centurion. To my grip, they feel very similar, and I have no doubt I'd enjoy owning, carrying, shooting either one. In you opinion, are the unseen, internal differences worth the monetary.

M9-A4 for a few hundred more. You get night sights too. Fiber optic will eventually break, not that it is a huge deal to replace fiber optic into the sight. Plus your still not exactly losing your front sight which I had happen on a 629 smith and wesson revolver. M9-A4 has great trigger and short reset compared to the standard 92 and the gts seems greatly improved on that as well.

I don't mind the slide mounted safety due to thousands of rounds of training on it in the Navy; the one I carry has the G decocker only and I carry it double action safety off which is my favorite. I would LOVE a single action only frame mounted 92 though; I'd like that more than a 1911. Don't get me wrong I like my 1911, but it's a simple GI Colt series that I shoot well, but is primarily a collector item because every American should have a 1911, but I don't pretend I should actually carry it.

DLC type coatings are a bit hit and miss still. I deal with them quite a bit in the industry that employs me. When they work, they're incredibly impressive. When they don't, things go south very quickly. The problem is they don't always work. Granted, where I deal with them involves stresses a firearm will never see, and a firearm isn't relying on them to function. So at worst I suppose you'll get corrosion when you really shouldn't. But I thought I would mention it anyway. While the failure rate isn't what I would call excessive by any means, it definitely is a measurable one. Whether it is due to application methods, surface preparation, or underlying materials, I don't know. All I can say is that it's an amazing bit of tech, but something about it isn't quite perfected yet. At least not on a mass manufacturing scale anyway, and despite it having been around for a good while now. As for the matter at hand, that is a really nice looking pistol. I think I would still prefer the older backstrap over the flat one, but I completely understand why they chose to go with it. But Thank you for this overview. Really neat to see.
