In this video i show you how i use the shaprening system from the Venture Pro. If you are not happy with the corrundum rods, i show you how you can change them to a diamond solution. And at the end i show you my favorite way to sharpen a Venture. This DIY System you can also adapt for other knives.

Another idea could be to use eg. a tube of PVC, PE, aluminum etc. a little bit longer than the diamond rods so they could be stored inside the tube while having room for a plug in each end. The outside diameter could be the same size as the flat drill. Cap or plug each end with metal or wood. One end cap or - plug having two threaded holes for the threaded diamond rods. The other end with an eyelet to attach a lanyard. Drill a hole in a tree stump for usage or simply hold it in one hand and use the other to resharpen or hone your knife.

I like how you show these solutions and also include drawings and simple tricks. I think you could drill a storage hole in the base and store the rods there. That would make it more "on the go". To be honest I dod not know about these rods! Very good tip also for hand sharpening. Might require more attention but they can so easily be stored in a sheath or pocket. Good suff, as always!

That is an excellent idea! I've been mulling over how to design a packable sharpening rod jig. I like the idea of it being hinged. Edit: However, after trying to design and print different prototypes, it's more complicated than I hoped. I'll probably revert to a smaller fixed hole design without a hinge. Maybe you can design a more elegant hinged base for sharpening rods

How di they make that in the old times? I think you can do it with a sharpening stone. I'm not telling you are wrong, but when you have a knife and a some sort of stone that you sharpen your edge, you pick that! I'm not a fan of daggers, I prefer the knife, it's a great tool! And I think I can keep it sharp like my ancestors. I'm sure you can do it more effective with modern knowledge, but I love the old fashioned ways. Lots of love from Sweden!

@FelixImmler

No... but you get a paste on the surface of the stone from water and grinding dust. This paste helps that you get a nice result.
@mrhalfstep
@mrhalfstep 10 ай бұрын
I think that the water floats the metal particles out of the stone to keep it from clogging. That makes it cut the knife's steel better and holds the stone truer to its grit rating. I think I've seen that, as a stone gets loaded up, it actually begins, at some point, to act like a finer grit stone. If you ever use oil on a stone, you will never be able to get it to absorb water, later, so stick with water.

Are you talking about the product that Paul Harvey used to promote called "Barkeeper's Friend"? I use that all the time for other stuff, but will try it to clean my ceramic stones if that is the product you are alluding to. I currently use Ruby Red erasers.

@@mrhalfstep the powdery kind , like comet or bartenders keep , nothing expensive . It really cleans up the ceramic really good . I’ve been using the same ceramic rod for a few years .

I think I understand what you mean, I'm just not familiar with the term/brand "bartenders keep". Back in the day we generally called products like Comet or Ajax scouring powders. "Barkeepers Friend " is a specific scouring powder that I have found, over many years, to be superior the all the others on the market. I will try it on my ceramic rods and thanks for the tip.@@Hungrybird474

It is strictly forbidden to sharpen a knife by moving along (parallel) the blade. This is done only by moving perpendicular to the blade. At least at an acute angle.

06:30 The Market Plattform "Temu" is in big critical discusion about a lot. Some Marketing tricks they are illegal in Germany, for example the countdown wich starts again after ending. Countdown is only legal, when you end the sale after the countdown got to zero. Additionaly were there some technik gadgeds with very bad electisity securety and faked certificates. the critical discusion was so big, that more youtubers made videos about it at the same time. And we have talked about it in School today. just wanna say, that the plattform is not a good one for a lot of people here (where i live)
