the functional training is exactly what I love to do! its all ive really been doing in quarantine since I still dont have access to a gym/heavy weights. it is allowing me to keep up my cardiovascular health (since running is not exactly my cup of tea) while also building muscular strength/endurance! super interesting to see all these workouts together though. your page is super educational and fun and thats why I love it!

Hey Steve could you do a Bodyweight workout and see how the strain/heart rate compares. You could speak about how Bodyweight can build muscle if you progressive overload etc but if you can you should use weights to workout then you should depending on what your goals are

One thing to factor is your fatigue going into the functional workout. Your body would struggle more after what you did the whole day. So your Strain would be higher than normal. But still a great workout and of course the functional bout would still be better when wanting to maximize your time.

@swoldiernation4 жыл бұрын
You nailed it, its hard to compare the post exercise caloric burn that the strength training would provide so we went strictly with the in workout strain.
@helenmooney33694 жыл бұрын
Steve Cook ah ok I thought the Whoop 🙌 could calculate the after burn for us. but yes I get it now,even if it does the after burn would be relevant to the individual’s body composition. Thanks! Love your work

What exactly does 'functional training' mean?

Functional Training combines more muscle groups in the movements and can have a cardio component to it vs. a traditional muscle isolation exercise like a single bicep curl, etc.
