Hands down - the most multifaceted youtuber! I mean this, then nvn london, the new jww hq, the regular journeys, car presentations, podcasts at nvn, track days, his own cars! Of course lets not forget the modern classic series, which I hope will come back at some point! Good stuff! Keep it going (as much as it's possible nowadays), James!;)

The really best thing about going from track days to racing is realizing that learning the fast line isn't enough - because some other bugger's already on that line. So if you want to get past them, you have to learn to adapt. That is super fun when you get it right. I often do an exercise when lapping tracks I know well - I do a few laps pretending there's a car on my right side and I have to give them racing room at every turn. Then do a few laps with them on your left side.

Will be good to follow you during the racing season (not sure how it will be affected by current events though...). Just a request: can we get the overlay of the rear video camera moved to the top right? Right now being in the middle it covers too much of what we want to see!

in the netherlands you can drive a cup called DNRT, you can "cheaply" race in a mx5 cup, e36 compact cup, e30 325 cup. from about 10k euros a year. everyone has the same car, very close racing and very learnfull.

Nice video, love Thuxton in the academy. You will prob hear people joking about the tyres (academy tyres designed to be low grip), but I found them quite fun. Helps to get car control, nothing beats sideways at 90mph+ and catching it. Let’s hope coronavirus doesn’t halt proceedings for two long, Caterham racing best thing I’ve ever done, great to see people doing it for the first time as a reminder 😃

Your HANS Device. The straps are designed to stretch on impact, to slow the head down on impact ( not a lot, but they do stretch ), and save on brain injury. The straps are to be replaced if the HANS has been in an accident.

Best bang for buck track car money can buy, i looked at buying one of these but in AU the second hand ones are usually old 1.6 escort motors for 30k and the newer ones were like 50k. I had a few concerns with crash protection on the road as they are small and not easily seen. I ended up buying an evo instead.

Are any of your competitors set up with left handed driving set up like from the states? I liked your paint job that I know you paid extra for. I downloaded their application to see how much everything cost, and you're right. The cost of this historically competent program (or school if you will) and the return you get in training and experience going through its amazingly fun course is probably one of the best values for this kind of hands on racing programs out in the market today. Good luck. And have loads of fun while you're honing your skills you lucky bastard!

Hi James, your content is seriously the best out there and Caterhams are a great way to start racing. Just one caveat though, be careful as they are basically open wheel cars and although thankfully a rare occurrence when the wheels touch the consequences can quickly become very nasty. I love your excitement and passion for going racing and can really identify with it, but after seeing what can happen a few years ago I wouldn't race Caterhams again.

Hi couldn't find John Barnes racing on it KZbin. What about if you buy the car second-hand do you have to buy it from the club, what about modifications are they allowed, like engine transmission and suspension modifications you put on. Yeah looks interesting, you didn't say the costs for you suit helmet and anything else you said it was expensive!! Why do you need to replace a roll bar every year, If no collision has happened, I would have thought that's not necessary! How often do you have to rebuild the engine and they can be part of your own choosing or you have to buy the parts from them. Anyway thanks

I've been driving lotus 7's for years, absolutetly love them. But few people know you can do it much cheaper than this. As I recently found out Caterham is like the apple comupter of kit cars - Very good but about twice as expensive as it needs to be. There are a heap of just as reputable companies who build lotus 7's for much much less. You can buy a kit and build one from MK Motorsport for under £10k, and enter yourself into the magnificant 7's championship for a couple more thousand. You end up with your own road legal lotus 7, and racing full time (if you want) for a fraction of the price. Ive just ordered a more powerful version which uses a Honda s2000 engine, so is the equivilent of an R500 caterham, and its going to cost me £16k instead of £40k from caterham. Seriously guys check out MK. They have been building these cars for 20 years now and are a great outfit
@James-gg9lu4 жыл бұрын
But I do love what you are doing as well - I just would never be able to afford £30k so thought I would share my experience for others to see. I fell in love with Caterhams after driving one for the first time 10 years ago - been hooked on it ever since. The caterham series is a very very good series to race in!
