I made a few months ago a similar tactic with HB instead of A and RPM instead of CM (A) with higher temp and counter attacking on. Almost treble with Atletico Madrid in the first season, UCL final lost.

To be honest, I tried to use this shape earlier in the year and couldn't get it to click. It was because I believed I should have one ST dropping off, but that instantly threw the tactic off. I believe this tactic is devasting when you have two strikers constantly occupying the defenders

Tried a setup like this myself and it was so bad, had to give up on it, tried yours and it's been good, creates decent amount of chances and really good at the back. Made a slight change though, gave the CM on attack to move into channels and it made it even better, whoever I put there gets a goal or an assist every two matches, the CM even scored a hattrick in one match. The right advance forward does more of the creating for me and the left scores more, same for Mezzala's the left gets into more goal scoring options. Note: during the match, notice If your players play too much unnecessary outside shots, if so, switch to work into box.

This is my favourite formation but with a little twit in the right cm I put Carilero and in the left cm I put box to box with get forward and I have a second one with middle cm as advanced playmaker and left cm in cm on support with get forward and run with ball

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using an AP instead of a CM? Or if we use trequartista and give him the task of defending the center, will it become more difficult to defend the center? Probably different because a playmaker would frequently ask for the ball which actually slow pace down, and try too much progressive passes which may result in losing the ball more. I believe that's the reason to use a CM to balance that off. But I am wondering if a CM on support may do better to be less aggressive and become the main creator of the team?

I tried a very similar tactic a few months ago and CM on attacking are gonna get into a lot of goal positions and score lots of goals even if its finishing and composure are mediocre like 11-12... İf you use Complete forwards instead of Advanced forwards then CM is gonna get more opportunities... And also CM will be one of the players who has a low touch on the ball so when you convert him into AP he is gonna make side passes mostly and with fewer touches its gonna make the player look bad...

I think the defensive midfielder's job in this tactic is to protect the defensive line as the other midfielders are too aggressive, and a DLP will be taking risk and be less involved in defending. You may try a half back if you want your defensive midfielder to do more.
