So many comments against these kits probably from hobbyists who hate the idea that it is literally RTF. I have a BetaFPV Cetus and I'm well aware of the poor goggles and range , I got what I paid for to start out and learn. When I'm ready for better equipment then I will sell it as a kit and move on.

It's so nice to know that FPV drones are just like any other costly, technical hobby: The old heads are offended by the idea of new people taking up the hobby, and do everything they can to discourage it. Same as Scuba, gliding, Ham radio, etc.

Thanks for all the awesome content you make! I would like to ask. I currently own Avata 2. I fly full acro. Have a lot of fun flying tiny whoops in Liftoff Micro Drones sim and got use to them so I would like to get a set. I don’t need any beginner features for sure, I do have Googles 3 and RC 3 but O3 air units go as small as 85mm or naked with 75mm but they are less durable. I was thinking of getting maybe the HDZero or Analog googles and a different RC and a quad that will be amazing to fly indoors tight spaces but also take it outside and still have a smooth flight experience. Also battery life is important. So 2S at least maybe even 3S if they even do them. What would be your pro advice on the kit. You can share affiliate links that I would use. Thanks

If you can fly the AVATA2 in Manual Mode then have a look at 5” quads with the DJI O3 system. Of course those are outside only. If you want indoor/outdoor then the most recent drone I reviewed (HUMA 20) is remarkable.

I am saving money to buy these, and I need one that has DVR and long range like 250 meters, and can be shipped to Azerbaijan. Also lithium batteries here are forbidden. For my calculations, 250 dollars + shipping is a bit expensive for our currency (it does 306 dollars) for Whoopfly16, and I am a beginner, and that means I will go for VRDrone. What do you think? Hello! Thanks for the video, I have a few questions. I’m new to drones, and I’m looking to use one mainly for spotting opponents during Airsoft games. After some research, the BetaFPV Aquila16 RTF caught my attention. I want to spot people in Airsoft fields. I need to record the video. I have no experience flying drones. I’m aiming for a range of around 300-500 meters. The first issue I see with the Aquila16 is the analog video quality. Can I reliably spot someone with the video displayed in the goggles at this resolution? Also, in another video, you mentioned the Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles ($199), which are digital. Would these goggles paired with another drone/controller be better suited for my goal of spotting opponents more clearly in Airsoft?
@CAPTAINDRONE798Ай бұрын
I don't think drones will work in AIRSOFT because everyone will HEAR them. Also, you can't fly an FPV Drone from day one... you'd have to practice for a month before taking it to an AIRSOFT field. Get yourself a beginner drone like any of the DJI Mini drones or other brands like the POTENSIC ATOM or FIMI MINI 3. Those you can fly the same day.

None in a budget price range… because if you have bad eyesight then you need FPV Goggles with individual eyepieces that each has a focus. They all start at $400 US and up just for the goggles, so when you put that in a kit it then becomes $700 US and up. Example is the DJI AVATA 2 RTF FPV Kit.

I was thinking about the Cetus X kit for a while but then I came to the conclusion that getting the parts (drone, radio, goggles, batteries and charger) individually was not that more expensive. So I ended up with a Meteor75 pro, a Radiomaster Pocket, an Eachine EV800DM, a vifly whoopstor v3 and some spare parts. For around 350 EUR. But what I did not get: a carrying case. And believe it or not: this is bothering me. The ones of the RTF kits are just perfect and you can't just buy them separately. Or can you? (I know that there is one for the meteor75, but that doesn't fit the pro model, let alone the rest of the gear).

A lot of good information here, but it should also be noted that going with any of these RTF kits designed to get you into the hobby, if you plan to stay with the hobby for any extended period of time you WILL end up replacing all of these items. Especially the goggles and radio for all of these kits as they are pretty terrible. Plus with the lower quality many people expect that all of them are like this and end up giving up on the whole thing. I typically tell people that they can expect to pay at least $500 to get in, but if they aren't sure this is for them they can just start with a $75 Radiomaster Pocket radio and a bunch of simulators.

Don't repeat my mistakes. Don't settle for bad equipment that comes in 1 box just because you're overwhelmed by a new hobby. If you have access to a computer and can download BetaFlight, there's nothing stopping you from piecing together and setting up a better starter kit. Radiomaster Pocket, ELRS. Mine did not come with batteries, I needed to buy 2X 18650 batteries. It's 10 times better than any radio that comes in a kit. Captain drone has a great binding video for it. Emax or Eachine ev800D analog goggles. If you want to record, don't get an SD card bigger than 32 GB or the DVR won't detect it. Whoopstor V3 battery charger. It takes a USBC cable and needs a decent wall block. If it can fast charge your phone it's probably okay. A 1S analog tinywhoop with an ELRS receiver. Make sure it takes BT 2.0 connector batteries. This is really important for 2 reasons. BT 2.0 connector works better but most importantly it's newer. This metric will help you steer clear of outdated drones using another connector fitting. You'll need 1S batteries for the drone, again BT2.0 . Many drone manufacturers recommend a MaH capacity. Or you can see what others are using on KZbin for a specific whoop.

KZbinrs need to stop recommending "Beginner Drone kits" because it makes beginners waste money, and they don't know better. I bought the Cetus X kit and replaced everything within 3 months when i started last year. It's much more valuable to purchase the radio, goggles and drone separately, considering all these "beginner kits" have very cheap radios and goggles that will be replaced in such a short time, increasing total cost. The only good thing from these RTF kits is the drone For instance this setup is US 260$ and has much better long term value. Radiomaster Pocket - US$54.99 Eachine EV800D - US$95.99 Meteor 75 Pro - US$109.99
