Great video....I've just bought a HJC i90 in plain white from SBS for £134.99 inc. pinlock. Only arrived yesterday but already worn it out on the bike and it's a fantastic helmet. Just got to fit the Pinlock and Cardo intercom and it'll be perfect..

I’ve got the Scorpion ADX-2 (replaced an ADX-1) and it’s fine in bad weather. Just done a 2000 mile tour to the Black Forest in plenty of heavy, persistent rain, and it was impeccable.

I've had 2 Dukes, the original and the Duke 2. Value for money they're great. I also have a Schuberth lid which is quieter but cost an awful lot more. The Duke is actually more comfortable though I do find the visor leaks in heavy rain. One gripe is that the chin bar is a close fit, not much room for a mic.

I'm a Caberg fan. I had a Duke that was replaced by a Duke 2 which I am currently using. The Sharp five start rating was a big influence when trying and buying my first Duke. I have around 20,000 miles, under the wheels wearing Duke's and will look at the Caberg range first when my current helmet needs replacing.

probably outside this budget range, but the scorpian lid that flips right over is the only one for me, I love mine, far better than my C5, that is now a paper weight, gathering dust.

ADX-2 is an absolute solid choice and personaly i had no Problem in Bad weather in over 6000km/3500 miles with my old one that i had to Replace for security reasons after i crashed in early March. And even their i can only tell good things he survived while i fractured my Shoulder into pieces and the bike got totaled with an broken frame and bend Fork. Apart from a few light scratches, the ADX-2 looks like nothing has happened. The only tricky thing is to find an goggle that fits the most are slightly to big but the cheap Scott primal did finaly fit

Thanks for the review. I’d ordered the C91N and then saw your review. I then ordered the MT, which in my opinion, is much better than the C91N. Only gripe was the visor seemed to not sit correctly in the up position, till I realised the leaver clicks in place.

It's pretty common that it takes a little more pressure to make a sun visor take the final step, to help stop it flopping down in front of your eyes of its own accord. Glad the video helped. Cheers, Tony

All good helmets, and I couldn't pick between the C91 or the Genesis SV. The i90 is a bit better as a helmet and has the obvious benefit of coming with the Pinlock insert if you ride in all weathers. It would help if you could try them in advance to see which suits your head the best. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

Always get the Sharp review before you buy a helmet. Caberg comes out with a top rating even against a Shoei and you can save yourself £100's. I've got two great when i used to be a bike instructor and great for all round riding and touring with my wife who has one too.

I'm in the market for a flip front helmet. I've watched this and the 'higher priced' review. Given that all the lids are 22.06 the question would be 'why pay for an expensive lid'? The argument 'you get what you pay for'... ALL lids meet the new standards. Q) should it be mandatory to publish the testing RESULTS with the helmet to allow greater transparency of levels of safety for cheaper VS more expensive lids? I am very fortunate that I don't have to think too much about price. Safety, noise and comfort are my factors. A big discussion point then. Why buy more expensive IF a cheaper lid is just as safe, is quiet enough and comfortable...

Great question and it'll be interesting to see what people think to this. For me, having tried helmets with prices from £80 to £800, going up the price scale makes it more likely to find a comfortable helmet. It's likely to be lighter thanks to composite-fibre shells, and extra shell size options keeping the outer closer to the size of the head inside it. Ventilation is usually better, Pinlocks will be included and may be bigger and more protective. The interior materials next to your skin are often better quality too. There's no need to buy a more expensive helmet, but I feel the experience is superior when you do. There will be (lots of) people who'll tell you a more expensive helmet is safer, but I believe it's impossible to know - and the advent of ECE 22.06 is good news for confidence in a helmet's performance on that score. I did some research in Feb 2023 on SHARP ratings and the average star rating largely increased with price. Based on conversations with a trusted source, I'm expecting the trend of all ECE 22.06 helmets scoring four or five stars in SHARP tests to continue. The stats from my research are below for those interested. Thanks for getting in touch, and I hope this leads to some more discussion. My Arai Quantic is much plusher than my HJC rpha 11. The Arai visor is soooo annoying to open. Swings / roundabouts. I prefer the Arai 😊 Thank you!

I've never understood the ratings of the Caberg Duke. I have several helmets and the Caberg is by far the worse for wind noise, the reviews all said it was good. I have a HJC carbon Motorcorss helmet I wear with googles wich is quiter then the caberg with the front down. How does that work 😂

Normaly for other shell materials, interior materials, weight, comfort and the most useless of them all Design. The Problem ist something like the ADX-2 is one of the quietest Helmets you can buy until it gets real expensive with Arai Tour and upwards and there doesn´t come much more in that Area but he is far off from being a light Helmet or having the best ventilation. From the safety standard all 22.06 are the same they all have to go through the same measurement. The only real Shitshow today is that you can get even today 22.05 rated Helmets wich are tested in much less angels with lower speed than 22.06 that can make a difference in the worstcase

I bought the Duke X 3 months ago & I wouldn't buy another one, wish I had spent more money. I ride a Z900 naked bike & the wind noise is ridiculous compared to my mates LS2 Advant X. Also bought a Sena Spider ST1 to go in it. Well this helmet was not designed to fit an intercom system. The recess for the speakers are no where near your ears, had to stick the Velcro pads on the plastic part of the cheek pads which is not ideal. The chin bar is too close so the mic is pushed against your mouth. The vents are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. Glad I got that off my chest because I'm unable to leave a review on the Sportsbike shop website.

It clips to the inside of a visor, acting a little like double-glazing and stopping mist forming. Especially useful when there's a lot of moisture in the air. Cheers, Tony

why buy the HJC c91 over the MT Genesis ? I bought the HJC a week ago ready for my DAS course as i didnt get on too well with the loaner helmet at the CBT (nightmare with glasses), but didnt realise it wasn't dual homologated

On features alone the MT outstrips the C91(N), but there are always reasons why someone might go for the lid that seems to 'lose'. Fit is an important issue and some may prefer the HJC's fit. Others may have faith in the HJC brand due to previous experience with those helmets. It's unusual now to have single-homologation flip helmets, so the C91(N) is a bit of an outlier now in that sense. Cheers, Tony

A Pinlock is a sheet of moisture-absorbent plastic with a silicone bead around its perimeter. This clips to the inside of the visor and stops condensation forming on the section of the visor the rider looks through. I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony

If there had been anything noteworthy I would have, but nothing stood out when I wore these helmets. There are so many outside factors dictating noise that it's a subject I prefer to avoid. Cheers, Tony
