I’m constantly trying to explain the difference between earthly happiness and eternal joy! We know many divorced couples, and currently have 4 sets of friends in the middle of divorce. I bring that up because I’m all 4 current cases, the woman filed and her reasoning is either “he doesn’t make me happy” or “I deserve to be happy” and “it’s time I put myself first”... I even tried to point out to the most “religious” woman in the group that we are not to put ourselves first! And I constantly use y’all as examples of why sticking it out pays off and has benefits! Praying so hard for all the children involved! We’ve been there, and we stuck it out and this fall we celebrated 9 years of marriage. I try to speak from experience and from the Word. But sadly they do not listen and in fact have pulled away more now. Breaks my heart! Between the 4 couples there are 10 children being affected directly and many more by observation. So sadly common.

Al nailed the contrasts on the head: "Happiness" is based on what "happens" (happenstance) and JOY is found in the HOPE we have in Christ--knowing God "works all things for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose". Joy is unaffected by our current physical circumstances, but exists due to our confidence in God. Joy transcends what is going on around us, because we are part of something greater--the eternal love, kingdom, and purpose of God.

I watch every episode of Unashamed, in the woods and now Si’s. I love Jases stories and can’t imagine not liking his stories. Phil and I are the same age so just ordered the omegaxl as I have issues with trigger thumbs so am hoping this will help. Al is the best mc for the show and the podcast is the best at bringing scripture to today’s world. I never in my lifetime thought I would see the warped society we are living in. For us it is a win win no matter the outcome, but for those not saved it is heart pain. God bless your witness.

So, Iv known about you guys, (Robertson's and dynasty) but never really watched or listened to anything you all put out. However, I started listening to the podcast a few days ago and so far iv heard about 20 of them in the last 2 days...I drive for a living. This podcast in particular got me thinking and I wanted to put my 2 cents in. Simply put; happiness is good, but superficial. Joy is lasting, it goes deeper and is more rich. Example; if I don't have much and someone gives me a dollar...I'll be happy. On the other hand, even if I don't have much and give a dollar to someone in need...I have joy. And that's how God's economy works. Thank you guys for your outreach! Love the podcast

Hi Brothers. I met Jesus 15 years ago in my living room. It has been up to date the most amazing experience of my life. My heart saw Him come out of the tomb victoriously. Anyways I am so blessed when I hear ya talk about Him and read His powerful Word that washes up clean. His water. The Word. My son and his best friend duck hunt and God willing I’m going with them this Saturday. And i might make Phil’s duck and dressing. It looked delicious with evaporated milk. Jesus keep blessing all of you and your families!

As a child, I was raised in a denomination that was void of laughter, sense of humor ,but full of pastors that yelled etc. The entire church service was almost sad. It felt strange yet wonderful when I worshipped with other believers in a happy atmosphere as a young adult. It was so inspirational and I felt happy and so close to God! You gentlemen are true gems that inspire me and countless others! Thanks for being transparent, down to earth, happy, and Phil when you read the Bible and offer explanations, you do so in such a peaceful way. I’m reminded of how Jesus might talk to us in Heaven. God bless the Robertson family and Merry Christmas!

My husband and I decided we would always try to be content and not to be happy. Happiness isn't strong enough to get you through the toughest parts of marriage. But to be content with how you are when you are where you are praising God anyway no matter what is attainable and sustainable.

Happiness doesn't necessarily equal joy, and joy doesnt necessarily equal happiness. It usually does. However, life can be going terribly and we can be down in the dumps, and we can still be joyful like Christ was on the Cross. Joy comes through Jesus, happiness comes through things.

Life is a good gift from God in and of itself. Our joy comes from the Lord, not our curcumstances. The life God gave us to live absolutely should be enjoyed, and that includes good, clean fun when appropriate. For instance, hunting is necessary but also great fun for many people to get out in God's great creation and harvest the animals he has provided for us to eat. God gave us hunting for many reasons, and I gurantee one of them was for our enjoyment.
