I have to agree, flat out fantastic racquet. My first hit I had mixed feelings because I didn’t have my normal strings in there but once I cut those out and put my normal setup on the demo I fell in love. No complaints tbh. Best Blade right up there with V5. It is ripe for customization if that’s what you’re into but stock it is amazing/solid as well. 5.5+ level. The V8 was very good but I thought it was a little too flexy at times. This one gave not a stiffer feel but crisper. Highly recommend people give it a shot. I’m stuck between this and the Blade Pro. The V9 Blade is the most complete racquet out there right now and I’ve tried them all.

Only thing that puts me off getting this is the Wilson quality control - the swing weight, balance varies a lot from frame to frame. To get a racquet probably need to get the shop to check the spec first and match if getting more than one. I sometimes play with a Wilson prostaff K factor 90 that's 385g as well, rallies are ok but it's tough playing sets with it given how heavy it is. Sometimes I feel a lighter racquet with head light balance would be better as I could get more racquet head speed instead of the plow. How does the blade compare with the standard version of Prostaff?

Could this racquet just have been an enhanced base for the from the blade pro ? What could the next generation improve or include, that would make you say , there is something that could have been better in the v9 , which makes the v10 better ? Do you prefer the 16x19 based on a clay court game vs a hard court game . See AC tennis just yesterday on it and the 18x20 in comparisons to others . The blade pro and v5 apparently rated higher . You sound like a wilson convert . You may want to be their distributor .

Thank you - your videos are brilliant and super informative. I'm interested to understand how you would compare the blades (18x20 + 16x19)to the prostaff 97 v14. I m demoing both the Blade v9 18x20 and the Prostaff at the moment and strangely feel that the blade feels more classic despite specs. I m moving from a prestige flexpoint mp 18x20 so that might be why? The Pro Staff feels like it is doing more to the ball vs what you are doing to the ball. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 ай бұрын
My personal observation is that you have to let go the Pro Staff rackets to do the job instead of the Blades, where you kind of play more with the racket. So if you don't have the great fluid technique for the PS, just get the Blade where you can use more power of your arm and stay in touch with the frame. I hope you get this idea.

@@CzechTennisGuy why is 18x20 better? In my experience I m not good enough for a 18x20. The main reason I want to change from pro staff is that I have found every other racquet I can hit 100mph. With the pro staff I m 10-15mph less. Everything else I like. So I m looking for something that has the same ground stroke but just easier to hit power and sweet spot on the serve.

It depends on how you can play. The 100 will be great for most intermediate players. It's a lot more forgiving comapred to the 98 versions. The 100L for lower intermediate, women and juniors. The 98 versions for upper intermediate and advanced.

You are right. The problem is that my friend works with 3kg hammers all day long, he makes wooden roofs for hauses and he is super strong. So when he grabs a lighter racket, he has absolutely no feel for the frame because he doesn't feel it in his hand. 💪 It's crazy how a physical job can have such a huge impact on the feel of a racket.

The Blade 98 18x20 feels faster thanks to the 20.6 mm beam. But it's a beefy racket so it takes some effort to get the racket moving. Then i went to Radical mp 360+ Customized with 31.5cm Balance, and 330g total weight, i do like the stability and forgiveness the radical gave me, but i do miss the Blade maneuverability. I gave Ezone 98 a chance, too, but i do miss the control and maneuverability from the blade. The question is, does the V9 16x19 is stable as the Radicals are? And about the sweetspot is generous? I'm an 4.5+ player, wih an one handed backhand. Should i come back to the blades now? 😅 I've used the 2015 blade, the v6 v7 v8, i miss countervail stability, but i want a less stiff and more maneuverable Blade. Cya. Great videos, by the way. You mention that you find the new Blade 98 16x19 overall better than the Percept 97. Is it because of the extra free power or other major differences? And could the ALU Power be the main reason for this? A detailed comparison between these 2 rackets would be awesome as they are both targeting the same audience!
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 ай бұрын
It's definitely the free power and also the spin potential and bigger sweetspot. You need to get used to the Percept 97 and that's what most people don't like to do - they want to buy a tennis racket that works for them right from the start. And the Blade is that racket. The Percept is specific with the Isometric headshape and a quite low powered frame. I would say you have to be a better player to get the most of the Percept 97. The ALU Power can definitely be a big part of the overall success of this racket. Strings are 50% of the performance of a tennis racket. But I would not just "blaim" the strings. I tested the Percept with Yonex PolyTour REV recommended string so both of the rackets were played with the best possible setup recommended by the manufacturer.

Hey John! Great to see you and hear from you. Yes. Blades V8 were great, I really enjoyed them, too. But they were somehow specific in the flex, which was too low for my taste and the racket felt like a chewing gum in some situations. This V9 is complete - it's not stiff, it's just stable from the buttcap to the tip of the head. It reminds me the Percept, but it has more power and more spin potential. The feel is outstanding. I think the Ezone 98 is less control oriented with less precision and less spin potential. This 20,6 mm beam goes like a knife through a butter. It's fast, responsive, has great power and spin potential and it's super friendly to use. At least this is the one worth demoing at all costs. And then you will see for yourself. Enjoy the weekend John and let your tennis racket dream come true!

Is this a racquet for an 3.0 - 3.5 USTA? I'm amateur player that has a bit of trouble with footwork but is working to improve? I currently have an Ezone100 but balls are going out a lot. HELP pls.

The 18x20 is way better. It has more stability, control and same power due to higher SW. Spin is decent and depends more on your technique... The 16x19 feels like u sacrifice a lot for a little more spin and launch angle ,)
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 ай бұрын
I can feel that this can be true. But I really need that extra power and spin, being a light guy. But if someone is a strong tournament player, the 18x20 can be the perfect choice for sure.
@hybrid11theory75
@hybrid11theory75 2 ай бұрын
@@CzechTennisGuy Both frames have a demanding nature, in terms of power they are not very different. The 18x20 gets the power from its higher SW, the 16x19 from a more powerful pattern. The 16x19 only has that little more spin and reactive stringbed but is worse anywhere else.... for most not worth the trade off!!
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 ай бұрын
@@hybrid11theory75 I did not test the 18x20 version so I can't tell the difference. In general 18x20 patterns are more muted and "lazy" then 16x19, so that's why the 16x19 is almost always more popular among amateur players.

You are clearly in the honeymoon phase. The low swing weight of 313 is horrible compared to tw. I agree that the blade (also the v8) is suited for all different play styles, but to me it was too muddy. Currently the best racket i have ever tried and still have is the angell react 96 16x19 which can used for every style as well. It's not a 98, but the sizes are overrated. I have some 95 rackets that are easier to use than some 100 rackets. Head shape and string pattern drilling have big impact and in many cases more than the size of the hoop

After some time my hand will get slimmer for sure when I start to loose muscles and my hand will shrink so I will need a thicker grip, maybe even size 4 like when I was 25-30 years old. @CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 ай бұрын
The 18x20 is more difficult to swing with. I really felt the higher swingweight, which I measured 333. I like the stringbed though, it makes the shots more surgical and the punch from the racket is greater when you hit it. I felt the benefit of the 18x20 on the serve, too. It's because the higher swingweight hits the static ball on serve with more power and plowthrough. Great stick, too, but for me too demanding.

@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 ай бұрын
Ahoj, co se týče kontroly a přesnosti, tak v tom je jednoznačně lepší verze 98 16x19. Od verze 100 to zase více letí zadarmo, člověk se tolik nenadře a má výraznější spinový potenciál (široká hlava rakety). Stovková verze má taky mnohem větší sweetspot a odpouští nečisté zásahy.

Prostě tu raketu chňapneš do ruky a jdeš do toho mlátit hlava nehlava beze strachu, že by ti neodpustila pár nečistých zásahů. Někdy můžeš mít horší den a ty 98 už to dají znát.
