I bought a Shift a month ago. The 315gm. I have Technifibre tfight and TF40, a clash V2, Prince Phantom, and a Rafa Aero. The Shift is now my favourite racquet. The combination of control, feel and spin gives me confidence to hit aggressive shots, and my success rate has improved. I’m a fan.

NGL I kinda wanted them to offer Andy an RF97 Autograph just for the laughs. I was thinking he'd go ultra but it was surprising that he praised the Clash a bit, considering it's a particular racquet. Had he chosen that one he should have gotten the minions painted one :) And I still very much love my nCode 6.1 95 16x18. I can't use it successfully always, but it's such a nice frame to hit with.

Switched to the Shift myself earlier this year, although my game is nothing like Andy's (50+, high 3.5/low 4.0 player, medium swing speed). What has been interesting and challenging to me is that unlike any racket I've previously used, it wants me to take full swings at everything, and gives me more control when I do, and when I remember to do so it has absolutely transformed my backhand (one-hander) from a control dink-and-dunk shot to something I can reliably hit with as much (if not more) topspin as my forehand. Really stands out on both wings with those sharp cross-court angles that I always used to miss, as long as I remember to fully swing. A little less power than the Volkl V8 that I upgraded from and the Head Boom I was demoing at the same time, but the confidence in my shots more than makes up for it.

@Jitzie
@Jitzie 2 ай бұрын
@@transamination I think generally the prostaff has a higher swingweight than most other non customised racquets. It's actually not very stiff, which is why the power rating is quite low. Stiffer frames create more power.
@Maiqel
@Maiqel 2 ай бұрын
@@JitziePro staffs are quite stiff though for a control/precision frame (above 65 RA iirc). It was part of their marketing, that's why some of them are called 6.0 and 6.1 (in wilson stiffness rating). Of course this was maybe stiffer when you compare it to the more classical frames, it's soft if you compare it with a Wilson Hammer which was never considered a players frame anyway or of course with modern Pure Drive-likes, but still decent pop for a "players frame".

Well, hands can become quite dead with that one for sure! 🤣 Some of my friends and I developed golfer's elbow from using stiff Babolat racquets like the Pure Drive and Strike. wilson shift pro v1 is a beast. earlier i used blx then pro staff RF in the last 15 years but shift elevates your game to another level. Arm friendly spin clearing the net at sufficient height is a banger. 18x20 pattern takes a while to adjust but once you do it is gonna make your opponent bleed. Have been using shift for seven months and have not looked back since then. Trust me this racket is indeed an extension of your arm and you will sense it while playing.

Loving the podcasts. Please can you explain when he talked about setting up the racket for how you liked it what did he mean by this? Are we talking, just strings and tensions or is he adding weight to it? Also do you prefer a balanced or head heavy racket?
@LunarEclipsism1
@LunarEclipsism1 2 ай бұрын
They meant matching Andy's preferred "specs," which are the grip size, overall mass and swingweight, by selectively adding weight to the stock rackets in key areas until they fall within a certain range for that individual player. If a player likes one particular frame their preferred specs might also restrict the balance point and twist weight of the racket as well, narrowing in on fewer and fewer variables until they land on an idealized setup that will be matched identically whenever they get a full new set of frames. For a playtest like this with a variety of models, they probably just matched the swingweight and grips and gave every frame the same strings and reference tension. All modern rackets are substantially headlight, when players talk about something being relatively "headlight" vs "head-heavy" they're contrasting something that's 9 points headlight with something that's 4 points headlight. No one has used a legitimately head-heavy setup since Moya.

@@ramakrishnamitta7024 well Djokovic was very gracious about it. We all know that Fed was a notorious sore loser of the highest order! After winning once against a teenage Djokovic at the Australisn Open Federer lost the next 4 matches there vs Djokovic taking a grand total of 1 single set out of a possible 12 sets. Also of course Djokovic's last meeting with Alcaraz was an even worse beating at the ATP FINALS but for Alcaraz but I don't think Alcaraz was 5 weeks after knee surgery at the time . Fed was never anywhere near a slam final 5 weeks after he did his knee "running a bath" that's for sure. Getting bagelled off centre court by a clunky servebot was more Fed's speed!

@@huzcer Imagine getting breadsticked by Sinner. And, Novaxx was in full health. The minute he met a top 10 player in Wimbledon, he shit his pants. Novaxx will get humiliated in straight 3 sets in the future Slams. Weak era champion 😂😂

@@ramakrishnamitta7024 nah the real weak era for Djokovic was when Federer could last manage to win any slam match against Djokovic and Federer still aged only 30 😂 then the dream ending years later with the last ever set of pro singles tennis on his record being bagelled off his "favourite" centre court.

Babolat really pissed this guy off LOL. But obviously this was designed to promote this new frame. Shame Andy didn't hit with the black one which I assume is an RF97?

I play with the Clash Pro and never thought of it as a power racket. Being a big guy, power is not my motivator, but finding the control to keep the ball on the court is my challenge. I may have to give the Shift a try.

Shift is a great racquet. Just a bit stiff on the arm/joints. If they made a slightly more arm friendly version at say 65RA, it would be perfect.

Very cool the way they shared his racquet selection. I'm surprised he is ok going to a regular length frame, he played pro with a 27.5 inch racquet which is generally better for serving, seems like a big adjustment. Wilson if you are listening it would be awesome if you allowed regular customers to demo your full range of racquets back to back like this.

I think most tennis centers or shops with Wilson racket sale have option for demos.

@@anttitapio4145 yeah for sure, its just that usually youncan't get all the demo's at once since other customers are trying some, you typically end up trying them all over a span of weeks and not back to back on the same day
