Just came across this video great video 100% true I use to live in Yonkers New York and we go to this range up in Ardsley and I knew Dennis who was the manager of kimbers custom shop since then he has passed away and also Ann that used to work for Kimber in Yonkers when they had their factory there before they moved it to another state I think Alabama or something. They had told me 100% Kimber gets all the magazines from checkmate out in Long Island New York.

You mean Kimber only comes with only one mag? Hmmm they cost enough, I'd figure they come with at least 2. Yeah most gun companies, especially 1911 companies farm their mags out. Thanks for sharing. Never know I might buy a Kimber. I'll probably just stick with Glock though for my 9mm pistol needs since I'm so heavily stocked with mags and spare parts. Have a good 4th👍🇺🇸!

Thank you. True story about having to modify the magazine. Good to know that I can go with this other brand was uncertain exactly who made magazines for Kimber. Thanks for the info.

FWIW, Checkmate magazines I tried DO NOT WORK in my Springfield Loaded 9mm. Makes it a jam-o-matic. Factory mags are made by Metalform and are called a "Springfield" model. No issues with them. Metalform are usually considered "budget" range mags.

I just picked up a Kimber 1911 in 9 mm and was going to just buy Wilson combat’s since that is what I’ve been using with my 45 ACP Kimber 1911 for years. Do you recommend against Wilson combat?

I bot an extra Kimber mag for my Micro 9. They keep popping out slightly after I take a shot. I need to try a different mag. The gun also jams frequently.

That's a bummer. Reach out to them, they have been great for me.

@@ConcealedSteel I'm going to try "Checkmate" mags. I can't figure out why after I slap in the mag, it's a solid fit. But then, after I take a shot, it pops out a 1/4 inch and I have to push it back in. I hope its just the mag and not something else. My Micro 9 is fairly new with about 500 rounds in it, so it should be broken in by now. If the Checkmate mags don't work, I'll have to call Kimber. Thanks for your concern.

It sounds like the mag catch/release isn't engaging all of the way into the recess in the mag. I'd play around with and empty mag, and the slide locked to the rear and slowly observe what is happening inside the grip when you push the mag up. If the mag goes in all of the way and fully locks with the slide locked back and you can't push the mag out from the top, your mag catch is likely working properly. Also, does this only happen when seating a loaded mag? Fully loaded? Partially loaded? Is the slide locked back, or is it forward? I would play with all of those variables. We may be able to more closely isolate the issue with those questions answered.

I've definitely seen plenty of guns that while the mag is fully loaded, will not seat with the slide/barrel forward. In those cases it's typically that the mag is so full and the spring is so compressed inside the mag, that there is no room for the rounds to travel downward enough for full engagement of the mag catch. In those cases you either have to download your mags by one round, or just be sure to insert on an open breech (i.e when the slide is locked back).

@@ConcealedSteel Thank you. I called Kimber and shipped my Micro 9 to them. Even though It's about a year out of warranty, they are going to fix it for free. I have a feeling they know about this issue. They treated me very well. Thanks again for your assistance.

Concealed Steel I picked up a bunch of fedgov contract 1911 Check-mate mags from a gun show, still in their wax paper wrappers. 100% flawless, excellent mags. When I think Check-mate, I think quality.

If u buy a officer size 9mm 1911 can u run the commander n full size mags in it ? Are they all the same?
@ConcealedSteel4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the longer magazines should work. I have an officer frame Kimber chambered in .45acp and my longer mags work just fine.

If your answer to a 1911 magazine is anything other than Wilson Combat you’re wrong.
