I love Key West, I was down there for 6 months for work and when I wasn't working I was exploring Key West!!! There is so much more to do down there then what you posted!! You are correct, it's family oriented. So many shops and restaurants and they even have my favorite, Hard Rock Cafe' !!! There is something for everybody!!

No, we boondocked at the military campground. I think it was $27 a night when we went. Cheaper than your standard RV park.

Book your RV site 6-months out at Sigsbee. Try doing it online before calling. Let’s just say that the people working there sometimes don’t actually check…but the system has all the info.

This is a great video!! We live in Maine as well and are planning a trip to Key West around December. You have given us a lot of options to look at. Any thoughts on hotels? I see you had your camper.

We were in our RV for most of the time staying at the Sigsbee campground. We stayed a week in the Navy lodging. If someone in your party is a veteran you should look at that option. There is no more affordable lodging than that. A lot of the action is down toward the southern part of the island. The restaurants, bars, places to see, etc. But nothing is really far away no matter where you stay.

If you’re able to get things booked in advance we recommend that. If you want to go to the Dry Tortugas you need to book that months in advance. We failed to do that and missed out. If you’re wanting to do multiple water activities contact the company ahead of time and see about a discount as well.

We stayed on Sigsbee. It’s a Navy Base so if you have access you can use it. Great prices but have to book at least 6 months out.

Hello Maine from Minnesota. Thank you for sharing this video. We're planning to go to Key West this summer in our class A. I plan to stay in Honda State Park. We did not hear where you parked your rig ? It seems your family takes activities every day .Was it easy for an RV campground on key West?

Hello Minnesota!! We stayed at a age Sigsbee Navy RV park. Military and prior military can stay there but you have to book 6+ months in advance. There aren’t a lot of RV parks down there so plan early (although summer is less crowded). We actually boondocked for a month so we did a lot of things but also had a lot of downtime. There is so much to do, it’s beautiful, there’s amazing food, it’s just such a cool place. We hope you enjoy yourselves!!!

There's a 2 mile long beach by the airport not at the Fort, like you said Smathers Beach and it is free.

We stayed on the Navy base at the Sigsbee Campground. If you were prior military you may be able to get access. We boondocked for a month because they have a very limited number of full hookup sites. You need to reserve about 6-months ahead because it’s so popular. There are some state parks in the Keys as well so you may try there. Surprising there are only like 3 real beaches in Key West. One is in a state park. The other two are near hotels which are pretty expensive.

Yep, you can do either one. Both offer a lot of the same stops and are a “hop on, hop off” service. The hop on hop off trolley does go to a lot more of the island though. Also, the trolley adds narrated info/history as it goes along.

There are a lot of activities for kids in Key West and if you look around at events, etc and locations of certain things happening you can avoid more adult things.

@@HintonTheTrail I'm not saying there aren't things for them to do, I'm saying they don't belong there. Bring them to Orlando or the coast. Key West was an adult playground for decades. It's being ruined by the strollers and teenagers.

There is about 20 minutes for screaming footage. But in the end it was a lot of fun…but she wont do it again. 😂😂 The food tour was a really great way to see the town in a different light. Scooters would be the way to go if you don’t have kids. They’re fun, easy to find parking for, and cheap compared to the golf carts. Thanks for watching!!
