We watched this last night. I turned to my wife and said that we need to go to the Keys. Next winter for 2 weeks we are going to the Keys. I saved this video and wrote the places down that you went to. Thanks for doing the work for us. Last week it was 60° here in Upstate NY. Today it's snowing and there's at least 14" of snow....ugh. I love the mountains but this guy needs some blue salt water. You two truly are the best!!! Peace and stay safe!!!

What a gorgeous aviary! I shared this video with my sister who is a birdkeeper at a zoo and asked her to ID some of these birds for y'all! The dark green bird you show first is a guinea turaco. The little guys running around on the ground at about 5:10 that Cody asks about are button quail. The black and blue is an opal-rumped tanager. And the multicolored rainbow bird is a gouldian finch. So many beautiful birds!

Loved this epi! Florida girl and love Key West - from spring breaks in college and beyond. If you go back and have more time, Key West has become a bit of a foodie scene in the past 10 years or so. Lots of restaurants in neighborhood home settings. Have fun! Im just up the coast in Palm Beach

Cody says “ Hey it’s just a hole in the wall. I LIKE it !😆 Yall are so funny. I was just telling my sister that I’ve always wanted to see a butterfly sanctuary! The blue ones were my favorite. Also the olive green bird when you first came in! Gorgeous! So cool how when the butterflies land, their wings fold up and blend in with the foliage and the “eye” looking thing mark to deter predators. God’s creation is AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL 🥰👏 And we got to see the Kellie food dance 😆 You know the food is good when we see that lol… love y’all 💜

Key West takes multiple days I lived on Big Pine from the middle 60s till the late 70s when company came to visit we would jump the Conch Train and jump on and off walk a lot and then ride it was the best thing next to a bicycle. Don’t leave the keys until you eat some conch salid for me my mouth water’s just thinking about it. Good memories your bringing back for me and I know y’all are making even more for you. God bless y’all.

One of the best days ever. :) Catching up on all your FLA Keys videos - makes me miss all the sweet days spent on Green Turtle in the Bahamas. The key lime, the fresh fish, the dolphins, sharks, the chickens, golf carts, the ocean breeze, and beautiful clear water! Can't forget the friendly people. Wow Wow Wow :) Also, you are making me laugh. Cody making sound effects while driving the golf cart; Kellie driving over the speed bumps "I need a sports bra". On one trip we started talking with a British accent and yelling out "Helloow" to every other cart we passed on the road. We get happier just using those mini cars. I have to remind myself that you aren't on vacation exactly. Glad you are having such a good time in Florida.

Fascinating look at Key West! BTW, it got its name due to the first Spanish explorers finding bones since the Native Americans had used the islet for a graveyard. 'cayo' [KYE-oh]- islet 'hueso' [WEH-so]-bone which got garbled to Key West (and the whole chain of islets became the Keys). Although by an amazing coincidence it IS the westernmost islet in the group with a reliable fresh water supply! Glad you got to see the flamingos, butterflies and other flying birds and bugs! What's interesting about flamingos is that they get their orange-pink color from all the shrimp and other seafood they eat. Otherwise, they'd have ivory white feathers! BTW, flamingo comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word 'flamengo' [flah-MEHN-go]- flame colored!

Cool! I would love to check out that habitat! There are so many amazing birds and butterflies! We have flamingos at our local zoo, but they're still very cool. I'm surprised that they didn't tell you that Flamingos aren't born that color? They turn that color from the shrimp, I believe, but it does come from their food source. I always wonder what my mother's reaction to how Key West is today compared to when she lived there in the 40s. I imagine it has changed dramatically! Change has occurred everywhere, but Key West is so touristy over the years!

We didn’t care for Fort Zachary Taylor. Water shoes are a must due to the terrain. Pros were having shade trees and great sunset views. We much prefer Bahia Honda State Park. Lots of sea grass build up around June can be challenging and moon jelly migration in Sept/Oct is no bueno. April tends to be the sweet spot for us for the temps and most of the snow birds start heading out.
