The pre-heating of the filter with nearly boiling water also rinses any nasty flavors out of the filter itself. Taste hot water poured through your filter to see if you need to do it. BTW, the shaking to aerate works wonders if you put the dairy in first. It oxygenates the milk and really improves creaminess, too.
@SeattleCoffeeGear8 жыл бұрын
Mmmmm creaminess :D
@northwestprof608 жыл бұрын
seriously? Do you listen to yourself? Go look up pretentious in the dictionary.....If there are nasty flavors or chemicals in the treated filter paper, you're not going to get rid of them by rinsing them with hot water. Shouldn't it be glacier water carried only by a 5th degree Buddhist Monk that has been blessed 37 times on the "Trail of Perfection?" Get over yourselves, people.....Must everyone pretend they're Frasier Crane?

Hey Gale! Blending coconut oil and butter into your coffee makes for a smoother brew and longer lasting caffeine effects. I believe buzzfeed has a video on it. You should try it in your next coffee collaboration video. Keep it up your videos are great!

Yes... yes, it is. :) My new way (because I hate getting up early enough to prepare it) is to brew it into a frothing pitcher and freeze it the night before. In the morning, pour milk in the pitcher and head to work. It stays cold in Chicago summers, and gets stronger as the coffee ice melts.

Make the coffee in your bialetti (super strong) then shake with ice in a shaker. Pour over ice. I like a flavored creamer. Basically the same thing you just did. 😉

My method is one that makes a fantastic morning coffee, but takes more preparation. Technically more of a cold brew than an iced coffee, but again is ideal for summer. Of an evening I have the Aeropress set up on a double walled glass in standard orientation with a paper filter. Add in about 25g of medium coarse ground coffee. I tend to use a fair trade Yirgacheffe, but this works well with most varietals I've tested with. Then place the filter on top and add in a dozen ice cubes. I've guesstimated that my ice cube tray is about 230mL of room temperature water to produce a dozen ice cubes. I let this sit overnight and let the ice melt and drip through. This ends up with about 200mL of coffee in the morning, and nicely cool. Add in another couple ice blocks, and drink unsweetened and without milk. This retains the sweetness and aromatic nature of the coffee, and is has a high intensity of flavour without adding any bitterness. And I apologise for those that prefer imperial measurements, but as you may guess from my spelling of "apologise", I'm more familiar with metric.
@c.leotaylor73507 жыл бұрын
I'd be intrigued to see what happens if you add a tiny amount of Xanthan gum powder just before shaking it. I plan to experiment with xanthan "no milk lattes" shortly via the Aeropress and I have a particularly citrus idea in mind! (ref to original Xanthan idea) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2LLcqmKoKqphrc

Shakened iced coffee? Starbucks has been selling it for nearly 10 years, and it is not an "off-the-menu" item. They started it when I was a barista there.

These guys are hilarious. Aeropress is basically a syringe that is the size used on elephants, with huge rubber flanges and seals. But these pretend scientists use weights and specifications as if they're working on delicate machinery somewhere in-between the Space Shuttle and the Hubbell Telescope! Look, people, an aeropress is a good tool for making coffee, and I have used one for a long time, but pretending that, somehow, metric measurements are needed because it is SO sophisticated is laughable. "Tareing it out?" You got to be kidding. Hilarious stuff.
@jakeross19098 жыл бұрын
The measurements come from the coffee brewing process and have nothing to do with the AeroPress method per se. No matter if you are using a french press, chemex, or an espresso machine- the best results will be found by measuring your coffee and water. Sure you can eye ball and get something drinkable, but when a baker goes to make a cake- you can sure as hell bet they will measure the ingredients. Also, don't be such a dick- it is unattractive.

Michael McKenzie I would strongly suggest you spend your time doing something different than watching videos you don't like.
@navinraju6 жыл бұрын
If you’ve ever tried making a pour over cup a coffee without a scale, a timer, and a kettle that doesn’t give you a temperature range you’ll see that you can make drastically different cups of coffee (some that are just awful). I agree it’s over kill on an Aeropress but once you develop the habit of measuring your water and beans to try and replicate your ideal cup of coffee, it becomes second nature even when you’re making drip coffee.
@fukushimadaichi4156 жыл бұрын
Michael McKenzie It actually helps you tweak it till you get the right variables that work for you.
