Hey Hanna, Happy New Year! So glad to see a new video from you. Slowdive, Drop Nineteens and Beach Fossils were in my top 2023 albums too, in fact, Slowdive was my number one. I get what you mean about 'everything is alive' not being as great as their older work, but Slowdive are one of those bands to me where even their not so great stuff is still so good! Absolutely love Curve, The Sundays, Best Coast and Airiel too. Gosh, you have such impeccable taste! Can't wait to see your updated room tour soon!

Nice to see you again. You give a lot of albums I am going to look into. Didn't buy a lot of brand new releases this year but my favorite was City and Colour- The Love Still Held Me Near. Such a beautiful chill album. I guess I was lucky to find out about Jellyfish - Spilt Milk late and missed out. All the Hum releases were stunning and I was surprised at how incredible sounding they were. It was close to audiophile sounding. Morphine - The Night also blew me away. They have such a unique sound especially with no guitar. Have a Happy New Year.

Great to see you again! I'll be YouTubing a number of your choices. Something I just got in the mail this past week was Ghost Days "Angel Tears". A drawback is it's only on cassette. Dreampop. Not exceedingly original but I like it. I liked the third Lael Neale album from 2023. One of my favorites. I will be getting the most recent TENGGER album. PJ Harvey - I Inside the Old Year Dying 1. Be Your Own Pet - Mommy I wasn't totally blown away by the new Stones album but it had two tracks I really liked, Whole Wide World and Sweet Sounds of Heaven. Love the ultimate Who's Next edition too, 109 tracks with the Young Vic & SF shows! Have you seen the Lifehouse graphic novel? Looks pretty amazing although it's mega $. Really dug into the whole experience & fell in love with Greyhound Girl all over again, think it's a connector between Behind Blue Eyes & The Seeker, & Put The Money Down & Water sound more vital than ever. @@TheOmahaIntrovert I played most of the new OMD and I found the songs very weak, not typical of any earlier OMD, and just kind of meandering, lacking energy or melodies. I was rather disappointed. I did manage though to pick up the newer 2 CD best of OMD earlier this year at a local record shop, which I was shocked that they even had that in stock.

Happy New Year Hanna ! My Top 5 were Slowdive , Emma Anderson , Nation Of Language , Depeche Mode & Blur. Nation Of Language were new to me & what a discovery. They remind me of New Order in the early post Joy Division ➗️ days. Biggest disappointment was no new Cure album ( Again ! 😠 😡 ) Best Song & Video was kisses 💋 by Slowdive & Best live show was The Cure . I hope Songs Of The Lost World isn't permanently lost. Hi Hanna, happy new year. Glad to see The Murder Capital make your honorable mentions list. I’m onboard with Nation of language as one of the best synth pop bands out there. I checked out Ist Ist from your earlier recommendation, enjoyed the lp. The surprise for me this year was I tended to listen to new material from older bands, which I usually don’t do. The Hives and Iggy Pop got most of my attention, but there were also new releases from OMD, Sparks, A Certain Ratio, Bush Tetras and The Kills. A few others that caught my ear, Johnathan Bree, The KVB, Fews, Magic Wands, The Drums and perhaps my favorite of the year from a new artist Mary Jane Dunphe a really well crafted synth pop lp.

My family and I visited our nephew in Omaha last summer and we love it! We stayed in the Market District just across the street from Hollywood Candy. The vibe was cool and people were friendly. That new park with the skating rink is amazing, Omaha really surprised me, I can’t wait to go back.

So many great releases this year, & discoveries of treasures from the past. Here's some of my highlights - The Field Mice - Where'd You Learn To Kiss That Way - slept on these guys way too long, love it all here on this comp & everything else I've heard so far, sister songs to one of my fav finds of 2022, Laurel Music - This Night And The Next with Tobias Isaksson of the sadly departed but still awesome Swedish band Irene, Malin Dahlberg of We Are Soldiers We Have Guns & Douglas Heart & Max Sjöholm of Douglas Heart - highly rec! The Summer Suns - Greatest comp + all the singles & ep cuts I tracked down on yt; just like the name suggests, some of the finest, sunniest & jangliest Australian power pop you could ever hope to hear with the legendary Dom Mariani of The Some Loves, The Stems, The DM3 & more The Connells - Ring 30th Anniversary - all of the demos are the icing on the celebration cake of this gorgeous album from one of my all-time top bands from NC or anywhere, plus it's got all the b-sides & acoustic takes Ramones covers! - binged on this in 2023 big time & rediscovered a lot of what I've always adored about this band of titans who were there when it all started one night on the radio with a Hey! Ho! I'm big on power metal & love how it pulls in from my roots in classic/heavy rock/metal & prog/symphonic. Hello again! Wow, nice extensive list with awesome notes here! I did see that Marshall Crenshaw re-release of his self-titled. That's definitely one of my favorite albums of all time! I have somewhat of an expanded CD edition of it and then an original or early press on vinyl but I was still considering possibly picking up the reissue! Oh nice, the Lolas. I heard a few tracks many years ago and really liked their sound. I will check out more from them. I have trouble getting into anything from Teenage Fanclub past their Man-Made album. And the Field Mice are so underrated! I would love for their catalog to be reissued...I'd take either CD or vinyl, I don't care! Only Depeche Mode (only one i have actually heard songs off), Slowdive and the yellow one with black swirls on it, i have seen. The vocalist from Beach House sounded interesting also Emma Anderson. I might as well share my list of albums that hooked me in 2023: 1) Xiu Xiu: Ignore Grief 2) Mandy, Indiana: I've Seen A Way 3) PJ Harvey: I Inside The Old Year Dying 4) Jaimie Branch: Fly Or Die Fly Or Die Fly Or Die ((World War)) 5) ANOHNI: My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross 6) Armand Hammer: We Buy Diabetic Test Strips 7) Sprain: The Lamb As Effigy 8) Snooper: Super Snooper 9)Matana Roberts: Coin Coin Chapter Five - In The Garden 10) Feeble Little Horse: Girl With Fish All these albums moved or challenged me in some way last year. Xiu Xiu's album dealt with trauma, both real and fictional. Mandy, Indiana is a new band from Manchester (yeah, that place again) and is one to watch because of how they revitalize the Post-Punk legacy on their own terms. And PJ Harvey's latest is her best work since Let England Shake, based on an epic poem she published in the Dorset dialect about a girl's coming of age. The rest of the albums on the list are every bit as compelling. Hope to see more videos from you soon. I always enjoy your channel.

I have to admit that 2023 was the first year I fell out of lots of new music because I was concentrating on paying off 3 music festival cruises I'm taking this year...Feb, March & April...of your top 17, I'm familiar with or heard of a few...Eyelids, Slowdive, Drop Nineteens, Emma Anderson (Lush are one of my all-time faves), Bethany Cosentino (didn't Butch Walker produce that??), GBV, Depeche & Bully (I have all their prior albums & haven't heard the latest but need to buy), but of all those, only heard/know Depeche...want to check out all your picks...and don't know any of your honourable mentions either...of the reissues, I used to have the coloured vinyl Omnivore Jellyfish records, but stupidly sold them when the CD reissues came out afterwards, also have the Stack O Tracks instrumental 2CD, the live record, solo stuff, Puffy Amiyumi...and the Lickerish Quartet 1st EP, need 2nd & 3rd...you do know TLQ right?? No?? Hi Hanna! Loved the video, and so glad to hear that you are doing well! I created a top 23 of 2023 as well, and we share a few favorites on our lists. I really enjoyed Ist Ist, Bully, Beach Fossils but especially Flyying Colours. I have probably spun that record at least 50+ times since picking it up. What a wonderful record! I listened to a lot of Last Tourist (self titled album) and a TON of Doused full length record Murmer. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend. Glad to see that you included Sparkler in your honorable mentions section. They are one of my favorites of 23' as well. I look forward to checking out Deary and Draag, both sound right up my alley. So great to see you and I can't wait to see your music room tour update video, and also your grail video. I have worked on my grails and music room this year as well. Hi Shawn! Really happy to read that you enjoyed this new video! Yeah, that Flyying Colours album is so amazing! Love that Last Tourist album, too. It's very hard to get, though. Big Sonic Chill from Sparkler - honestly, I wanted to include it in my top 10 somehow! Just wish they had that on vinyl or CD, though! I was bummed! They are going back into the studio this month! It seems our taste is very similar, so I have a feeling you will absolutely LOVE Deary and Draag! Hope you report back if they resonated with you! I need to check out Doused. @@TheOmahaIntrovert Hi Hanna! It is so nice to hear another person that is as obsessed with that Sparkler record as I am. What great news that they are getting back into the studio this month as well! Now if they would just release their stuff on some format other than cassette tape ha ha. I am finally back at work this week so I had time to listen to Slow Salvation, Deary and Draag. I am blown away by Slow Salvation, and will be getting that EP for sure. Deary was also a winner and I have added that to my "to buy" list. I have listened to Draag a few times now, and I am starting to really dig it a lot. All 3 are winners! I am so glad that the Drop Nineteens have a new release out as well. Come on and reissue Delaware already ha ha. Thanks so much again for the great recommendations, as it seems that we do indeed share a similar taste in music. I hope that your week goes quickly and I look forward to seeing your room update video soon! P.S. The Ann Arbor Monster Record and CD Show is this Sunday (1/14), and I am pumped! Glad to see you making videos again. I was getting a bid bored of watching vinyl vlogs about 50 year old classic rock albums that they keep re-releasing ad nauseam. I don't usually comment of these vlogs but I was happy to see you list Ist Ist on your list. I've been following them from the first full length album and have all three on both vinyl and cd. Yeah, a bit obsessive. I guess you saw that they're releasing a vinyl LP of the two early EP's on one album. Yeah, I preordered it. Anyway, all the best in 2024.

Thank you for this excellent and very shoegazey video! I also loved the Slowdive and Hotline TNT records released this year ; and Welshpool Frillies was certainly one of the best GbV albums from the last ten years. I also discovered Lush late this year (better late...) and was floored by how great they were. Anyway I've added quite a few of your picks on my listening list, I'm impatient to immerse myself in them. From my own "best-of-2023" list, I can recommend you : - The Lemon Twigs' "Everything Harmony" which is a perfect record of gorgeous retro (power) pop, - Lankum's "False Lankum", irish traditionals revisited as intense post-rock masterpieces, - The American Analog Set's "For Forever" which was an unexpected return from one of my favorite slowcore bands, with their wonderful signature sound mixed with dazzling new compositions.

Depeche's Momento Mori is absolutely sublime. It's the first Mode album in quite a while where I enjoy and appreciate every track. The album is beautifully sequenced and beautifully produced. There's a rumoured Momento Mori deluxe vinyl boxset coming out very soon with four previously unreleased tracks, one of which will be released as a single in 2024. Bring it on :)
