So glad to see The Church on your list. Great album, along with the companion release, The Hypnogogue. Also, not sure if you were aware, but the band, X also had a 2024 release. (Smoke and Fiction) Definitely much better than their previous album, Alphabetland.

That Nada Surf is easily and by far my favourite album of the year... starts out infectious, then gets better each time I listen to it, and every time I listen to it, I go back and give one of their other albums another spin. The new Deary album is fantastic too. Thank you for posting all of these!

Really enjoyed the new approach Hanna! Lots in here I've never heard of including one from my hometown in Leeds, UK - shame on me. Lots to look into which I'm going to do tonight because my 2 months free Apple Music expires tonight. I would also recommend To All Trains by Shellac, Wild God by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Bright Future by Adrienne Lenker, Patterns In Repeat by Laura Marling and my current obsession - The New Sound by Geordie Greep. Have a great Christmas and thanks for your recommendations.

Fantastic job and a nice presentation. I love that you've tapped into the magic that seems to be in the water in Montreal right now. Your picks PyPy and Bibi Club killed. Other great Montreal releases include Grand Public (jangle) DVTR (crazed post-punk duo) and venerable local heroes Les Breastfeeders (perhaps Montreal's Fleshtones?) who put the retro in post-punk. Applause for including the photo credits when able. Have a Happy New Year filled with great new music!

Lots of interesting albums for me to check out. I was only familiar with a few of them. The Nada Surf album is definitely one of their best. I'll have to give the Cure album another try. First time didn't do anything special for me.

Great list Hanna, lots to check out that were completely off my radar. Have you listened to Naima Bock? Her latest Below a Massive Dark Land is beautiful and enchanting. I’ll be posting about it on IG in the morning, but it is definitely a standout for me in 2024. Take care! Happy holidays!

Wow ! lots here not on my radar and I thought I had a big radar. I did listen to tracks from Newdad , Robber Robber, Vr Sex and Weak Signal , but have not checked out full albums. I agree with you on both Thus Love and Fontaines D.C. , took me a bit time to warm up to the mid section of Romance. That being said it ended up being my no. 1 of the year. The Cure, Magdalena Bay, Diiv and Kings of Leon were some other favorites. Here are some other bands that caught my ear in 2024 , Sprints, The Bug Club, Ducks Ltd, Been Stellar,Psychic Graveyard and The Courettes . Happy new year!

I both thank you and apologize 'cause this could get long. The Mt. Fog and particularly Molina fed my appetite for more experimental music as I've gotten older. I thought for a moment we were getting a cover of the dbs from Molina, lol. I've recently dipped into Mary Timony and Jessica Pratt; haven't gotten to this one by Mary but just listened to and loved "Here in the Pitch". Really dug the album by NewDad and liked your number 1, but I did find the vocals a little buried. Will check out that 'other' band from Cincinnati and many others here, and again thanks.

Lots of stuff to check out that we’ve never heard of, you’re way more in tune with newer bands than we are! Anything on Trouble In Mind and Sonic Cathedral are always worth a listen. We posted our top 20 this morning. I thought our lists would have more in common, but we bought mostly “established” artists this year and fewer newer artists. We almost included the Church lp since it had a more official release this year, but we bought the cd last year on their US tour so considered it more of a 2023 release, could go in either year really! We did manage to squeeze the latest Kilbey/Kennedy lp into our list, so the Church are at least represented. Cheers!

Hey Hannah! Thanks for the list. I look forward to hearing a lot of this as it is new to me. I see you successfully avoided The Lemon Twigs bandwagon. I did not. lol A Dream Is All We Know is my #1 of the year, Redd Kross' s/t was a close #2. On the jazz side Jerome Sabbagh's Heart album is great (a worthy follow-up to 2023's Vintage.) Happy New Year!!

Oh Hanna..Hanna...Hanna...what have you done? As someone who has watched every video you have ever done I have to say that I really, REALLY didn't like the presentation on the best of 2024. Apart from your excellent taste in music, for me, your personality, enthusiasm, love and devotion to the music you talk abut in each video is one of the main reasons I tune in every time. In an ever increasing world of A.I. , we need the human touch more than ever! Anyway, I'm of to spin Juliana Hatfield's vinyl reissue of How to walk away...Merry Xmas, all the best for 2025 x

Always an interesting list with many albums squarely in my wheelhouse. I bought about 40 new albums this year, not reissues, that was deeply I to shoesgave, dream pop and jangle pop. Blushing and High Vis are high on my list. I have bought a lot of great stuff out of Japan. Fuzz Club really took a lot of my money this year. Excellent year for music

Nice picks and presentation! Some familiar to me, some new, thanks! Although, I'm very surprised and curious that A Dream Is All We Know by The Lemon Twigs is not in here. Especially since how discovering your channel was through your Power Pop and Jangle Pop appreciation videos... I think I even mentioned them in the comments on Instagram or on here to you. The quality of the songwriting and sounds are undeniable, so it's strange there's no mention, let alone them being high in this 2024 list. So much so, if you played it next to any of the top 10 here and fair to say it's stands strong as a collection and would even be deemed a classic.

There's a lot of stuff here the Vinyl Douche never mentioned. Sam must be hanging his meat stick in shame. It looks like I'll have to spend the first month of 2025 catching up with 2024 releases and, even though I bought a lot of new music this year, apparently I didn't buy enough. Merry Christmas! Looking forward to seeing more videos in the new year.

Vinyl Douche is a class channel it just goes to show how much new music is released every year . I do not like those who knock others the amount of time it takes to search out good music and listen and i sure most vloggers have family and trying to earn a living holding down jobs i also respect all vloggers

Thanks so much for watching, Joe! I don't think I've watched VD's channel in years. I'm kind of terrible about watching other VC videos due to time constraints. I'm still compiling my 2024 list, but here's all the dreampop/gaze bands on it so far: NewDad / Julie Dawson (i think i like her solo album a little better than newdad), Bleary Eyed, Ride, Sunshy, Shower Curtain, Fazerdaze, Mo Dotti, Dummy, Peel Dream Magazine, TTSSFU, Starcleaner Reunion, Somesurprises, Blushing. I love DIIV but for some reason I could not really get into this new album like everyone else. It's just so lethargic. I felt the same way about Clinic Stars! Not that theyre terrible, I would have def loved it way more when I was 19
