You touched on all the important points when considering this lens, I used to own the Sony 24-105, but sold it and purchased the Sigma 24-70 art. I was very happy with the versatility of the 24-105, but wanted a 2.8, and after researching my options I decided on the Sigma 24-70 and can attest to the the superior quality of this lens. I generally like to stay with Sony native lenses, but as this 24-70 was designed specifically (not modified) for Sony, I was confident on it being a good match. Coupled with the Sony 100-400 GM, I now have two lenses that cover a broad range of focus lengths.

what about the stabilization
@thomas.kovacik9 ай бұрын
works well! I heard with non-sony lenses you don't get the same performance out of active. I primarily only use standard and it was solid

i think this lens is mid. 24 is not wide enough and 70 is not zoomed in enough. Whatever u want to do imo the 15-55 kit lens can get the job done as just much as the 24-70
@thomas.kovacik Жыл бұрын
I don't really agree! 24 is plenty wide for a "standard wide" 70 definitely isn't enough but it's something haha. I would love it to be 80 / 85 The sigma 24-70 is really smooth, sharp, color accurate and the AF is just as good as the gm lenses. I'm sure you can get the job done on the kit, but if you're looking for top tier performance out of a lens- the sigma 24-70 e is a pretty solid contender

Why not get the Samyang 24 to 70 and enjoy naming videos with AUTOFOCUS!

you could! I just have a history with sigma so I trust their product hah

I shoot video haha Ended up selling for the sony 24-70 gmii and couldn’t be happier

You are wrong. Main disadvantage is, that the active stabilization does not work with the Sigma. So when you are filming handheld and move forward is it a restriction compared to Sony lenses. In this situation active mode is clearly better.
@thomas.kovacik Жыл бұрын
forsure! Yeah I never use active anyways so I probably missed that it wasn't doing something- I always stick to standard

I totally disagree, the 24-70 gm ii is the best

Lens is too heavy with a fully rigged out FX3, colour, and skin tones are not as nice as Sony lenses. AF is not as good as Sony lenses and lags in comparison. We bought two of these lenses and sent them back. We bought all Sony, you get what you pay for. If price is premium on the list of needs then they are the next best thing for an FX6, but for an FX3, the 24-105 Sony is the better lens for all-day run and gun work. The 70mm is just too short without having to resort to clear-image zoom for interviews and close-up details. With the 24-105 mm you get a 157 mm lens truly making this a lens requiring few lens changes, whereas with the Sigma you have to stop and lose valuable time, and opportunities on a doc to make lens changes to achieve longer focal lengths. The Sony is far lighter, significantly lightening your entire rig. Image quality is excellent and the 24-105 is priced far lower than the 28-70mm Sony Gmaster, which is also a heavy lens like the Sigma, and similarly lacks the extended foal range. And it is another lens better suited to a shoulder-mounted FX6.

I had the Sony 24-105, sold it after using for three years and replaced it with Sigma 24-70. Image quality is way better, you get nice bokeh, richer colors and better micro-contrast. The images from 24-105 looks dull in comparison. So much happier with the Sigma.

The lens feels at home fully rigged out on the fx3, and for 1100 its pretty solid! I'm glad you're enjoying the sony lenses, they seem nice! But for most, having a sharp solid lens at 2.8 is more valuable than a 24-105 at f4. I also looked into the 24-105 bc that lens used to be the goat for run n gun. But I feel this new sigma takes the cake. It's not that heavy either when stripped down, I just did a 10mile hike with it and it was pretty mellow. I plan to bring it backpacking. Thanks for your thoughts!
