once the glass is free, I slide it up and secure with masking tape on the outside of the glass, over the frame and stick it to the inside..Thanks for your video, cheers from Brisbane, Australia.

i got the same problem on my e46, the regulator sounds and all but doesnt do much more, both right front and left rear.. hope it helps to reconnect the wires!

You do not have to unhook the battery. The airbag has to receive a very specific digital code from the computer to fire. Air bags do not go off at low speeds. Current parking speed is ZERO.

I was going really good then I got to the part where you have to take the screw to detach the regulator from the window and I tried to take it off and it was stripped... took me an hour and a half to take it off and run to homedepot to get another screw. If that didn't happen the whole process should of took me about 30 mins.

Lol. The screw is probably missing from the first time the window regulator failed. From probably 1300 miles previous to this.

hi guys I have a 128i 2010 convertible, I did change my window regulator in my passenger side, I disconnected the battery but now the automatic window drop is not working, before when I opened the door both windows dropped half inch automatically, and when I closed the doors they when up automatically, I looked some videos here in KZbin in how to fix it but I can't get the doors to work. has anybody had this issue before and how did you guys fix it. thank you for your help.

I did this. Regulator install went well. Airbag light is on now. And yes, I reconnected it.........

Has there been any moment during the work when the key was in the ON position with the airbag unit unplugged? That generally triggers a permanent failure as the central restraint unit awakes and can't "see" the door bag unit. Anyway it should be eraseable with a dealer tool (and yes a couple of 10 bucks).

thanx...I know I'm not going to be attempting this..!!! haha...I'd probably screw something up...I wonder if anyone knows,..I thought my passenger side window was completely broken, cuz it wouldn't roll down...I finally just pushed it all the way down,..(it did so with very little resistance) ..and then I was able to roll it back up!!...but if I roll it all the way up it won't come back down....it will work up and down , until I roll it all the way up then it gets stuck again...( a minor problem,..mainly for my passengers!!)...I'm assuming I can't fix it unless I totally disassemble the door like this,...and if that's the case, I'm just going to leave it the way it is and passengers will have to deal...haha...but if somebody knows a hot tip!! thx

VERY IMPORTANT: Do not test the window without reconnecting the airbag. Otherwise you will end up with a light on your dash. You need to buy a device to reset the airbag light. Cost about $20

Those are the two screws that should be under that panel. They are torx and one is meant to be really long.

@@bmwnasher aha, I see. Maybe you know this, I have a non Harman Kardon e46 and am gonna mount the HK system. In the front door cards there are pre cut circles for the extra speakers. Are they present in the rear doors as well? Since I don't have any speakers in the rear door cards right now.

You have about the best video on this. BMW's must kill ($) folks who are not mechanically inclined...they break window regulators, cooling system parts, etc. FAR more than my 34 year old Corvette ever has...and it has seen much rougher use under my whip and foot for each of those years.
