Bochi is my anime of the year, though can't complain about spy X family taking top spot. Bochi took a manga that is only decent and put so much creativity and love into it that it is simply astounding. The animation was immense in its variation and creativity, the songs were absolute bangers that honestly deserved a mention in best song category, and the humour is brilliant. It's not only the anime that deals with being an introvert the best, but it's also the best slice of life anime I've ever seen.

I'm still inclined to believe that Summertime Render deserves to be number 1, with all its twists and turns, shocks and reveals. This was one roller coaster ride I had the most fun with in years and now stands as my new favorite anime of all time. Close runner ups would be Bocchi the Rock and Made in Abyss Season 2, all are prime examples of why I love watching anime.

So happy you picked Sasaki and Miyano as Best Romance. As a gay anime fan, it was so cute and filled my heart with joy. I even cried at the ending because of how beautiful the romance is. Like Heartstopper, Sasaki and Miyano is a high school romance that focuses on the romantic feelings of gay love. If a show like this aired when I was in high school, it might’ve helped me feel more comfortable with myself and come out sooner. Shame that Crunchyroll ignored it in the Best Romance category, but the show wins in my book.

Correction: You pronounced the PI part of Fuuto PI wrong. It's "P. I" as in Private Investigator. Not "Pie". Also it's Kamen Rider. Not Super Sentai. The show itself is an anime sequel to Kamen Rider W(Double). But other than those complaints, happy it got mentioned in this video. Also, I'm surprised Shenmue The Animation and Tokyo Mew Mew New wasn't nominated for anything.

I haven’t watched all this year, but read summaries of a few that picked my interest. For the record; Fuuto Pi is an adaptation of Kamen Rider W, not Sentai, they’re just the same genre. Heck, for some reason jazz music seems to be trending in Japan. I didn’t watched Bochi the Rock, cause I’ve seen a few clips and I pity the poor girl and it was hard for to watch. A bit surprised you categorize a few to the bottom, despite their popularity. Now, for 2023 awards in advance, I recommend Tondemo Isekai Cheat, Tomo is a Girl, Ningen Fushin, Clueless Transfer Student, Reincarnation of Exorcist, Konosuba Bakuen spinoff.

One of my favorites for 2022 was I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss because it was refreshing for what it was and the fact that an otome game was used as the plot point with an interesting female and challenges.

I'm glad over 30 percent of the fans voted for Spy x Family the obvious best anime of the year! I have no idea how Cyberpunk won Crunchyroll's anime of the year award! Now I have to adamantly disagree about your opinion The Eminance in Shadow! Have you seen the animation and stunning background shots? And the main character Cid is hilarious! He's going around just trying to look cool and fulfill his dream which is basically being the biggest Chunni ever! And the story with Princess Rose in the last 5 or 6 episodes was one of the biggest tear jerkers of the season! Also I was surprised no one mentioned the Dreamer song from My Boy Kongming it was such an amazing song totally best of this season! And finally the 2nd opening and ending of Spy x Family were even better than the first ones right? Why do the awards only ever mention the first opening and ending for Spy x Family??? I guess not many people see things the way I do...

Eminence in Shadow being under Disappointing feels like it’s being placed there for the wrong reasons. Obviously, everyone has different preferences and I can totally get how Eminence in Shadow just isn’t for a lot of people, but it sounds like it was being held with expectations of things it never promised. It’s a parody of isekai, and that’s how it advertises itself. Obviously, the edginess is up to preference and I can totally get why this series might not be some people’s cup of tea, but it’s not being overly edgy because it thinks it’s cool, it’s being overly edgy because it’s CRINGE. It’s a very large and intentional part of its parody. Being disappointed because of incorrect assumptions about what the show would be when it makes itself very clear is on the viewer, not the show. I find it strange that Aharen-San was placed in the top worst anime. It wasn’t particularly special, but it was a fine, sweet enough anime. Just because it has a somewhat similar premise to Komi-San doesn’t mean it should be held to the same standards, especially when it’s not trying to do the same thing. More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers is actually surprisingly good. I would actually be interested in seeing where it’ll go. Oh, it absolutely has some extreme fanservice and gets far too horny, it has some good content. I totally see why someone would place it in worst anime for just the horniness alone, but it has good stuff too. Overall, it feels like a lot of the stuff on these lists were not watched all the way through, and placing series in worst/negative categories without even watching the whole thing feels disingenuous.

Eminence in shadow was easily the best isaki. Especially if you realize what is really happening which you clearly do not, think Haruhi Suzumiya. Sure it was a little weak in the middle but the end was great.

I love The Eminence in Shadow. I read in the comments that Robyn said the isekai part killed it for her and made it "disappointing". She wanted a story just about a vigilante, without the isekai part. But I find it curious that she liked The Executioner and Her Way of Life though. I skipped that because I didn't like the premise of it, oh well.

Yay, yay, yay. After a worthwhile wait, a lovely anime awards. So glad that Spy x Family is where it belongs. I know many people may say it is overhyped but it was magnificent. There was no other anime that enjoyed nearly as much. Loved it so much I am buying the manga (which is awesome as well). Go Forger Fam. Many of my other favourites of the year were on the list, but the only thing missing some love was the Call of the Night. Thanks for all your efforts. We love and appreciate it! Your award lists are a highlight of my anime analysis viewing.

Personally, I never thought Spy x Family was over-hyped, just descent. Plus anime fans have a bad habit of over-hyping EVERYTHING(regardless of weather it's good or bad). But with all the crap/mediocre anime coming out nowadays, I decided to watch Spy X Family Code: White in the movie theatres, because I was desperate for something good! Spoilers: the movie was great! Now initially the reason I avoided Spy x Family, is because I've already seen the "family of spies" premise in shows and movies like Spy Kids and the Xs, but after watching Code: White for myself, I can definitely say that Spy x Family deserves all the praise it gets! Cause unlike those shows, none of the family members know about their double lives, Which is both new and great!

Honestly, as a long time anime fan, whenever I see an "objectively bad anime" getting high scores or positive reviews on MAL, I question anime fans' standards? Like, why are you wasting your time watching crappy shows, when you could be watching legit good ones? Yes, I know everyone has their guilty pleasures and all, but that doesn't mean every anime is good! Japan won't improve if fans can't learn to praise good shows and filter out the bad ones!

As someone who doesn’t watch anime all that much, Spy X Family really caught my attention and is one of the most enjoyable shows I had the pleasure of watching. A perfect blend of comedy and slice of life with some action and drama here and there. I love all the characters but my favorite is Loid aka Twilight. He’s an awesome and competent male character I like alot, which hasn’t happened for a while. Cool, badass, top tier secret agent, talented, extremely intelligent, mysterious, and is pretty handsome oppose to the dull designs male characters in non-shonen have to be cursed with. And yet, in-spite of everything he excels at, he still has flaws and insecurities that makes him not just a character but a person.

Called it! I have even a YT video proving it (why you should watch "Spy x family", before it aired)! So beginner friendly, that I watched all 25 ep with my grandma. Also only true adults can really enjoy it (like pressure Yor feels to be married and have kids or that even being good looking, super great at your job etc., you can still feel unhappy, like Loid).

_Shenmue_ was actually my disappointment for the year: - Ling Shenhua was built up as important in the opening and by getting her own scenes, but she barely interacted with Ryo. - Ryo spent the whole season getting these big important lessons about controlling himself and not letting emotion rule him, only for that to go _completely_ out the window the second he claps eyes on Lan Di. - He doesn’t even get to fight Lan Di! The guy escapes to set up Season 2, but we’re not going to _get_ a season 2, because just as with _Fena: Pirate Princess,_ some *idiot* thought it was a good idea to give it to Warner in the middle of their merger business with Discovery, and they both got cut! I will say that the opening slaps and the art is good. Credit where due.

Isekai Ojisan should have got best OP animation. It's done in the style of 90s Sega games which makes the opening look totally unique and it's full of nostalgia too. And this is coming from someone who played Nintendo during the 90s.

I saw a screen cap of I’m the Villainess so I’m Taming the Final Boss at the beginning and was excited thinking my most underrated anime would get some love😢 Sadly that was not the case. It was just so good with the villainess being a force of nature plus feeling more like a villain than in “All routes lead to doom”. Excellent list as always, my personal favourite anime of this year was one not in the video. RWBY Ice Queendom was an absolute joy to watch, Studio Shaft nailed it with an interesting story about 3 girls trying to save and better understand their friend who is trapped in a dream world that feeds off her deepest fears and insecurities. I love that fans don’t have to have seen Rwby to understand it. The updated animation is beautiful and the concept of the Nightmare Grimm was fascinating and so well written in my opinion. Highly recommend it.

Commenting as I watch so lots of edits for notes First note: The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting is a solid anime. I actually JUST binged it for the first time with the season only being 12 episodes. It's a good show. A solid choice for favorite. Also Spy X Family getting almost 1/3 of the votes is as hilarious to me as it is 😂 unsurprising Second note: Best Fantasy winner and runner-up are two I've never heard of but I'm definitely adding to my watchlist especially our runner-up Third note: Best Isekai...same as Best Fantasy. Enough said😅 Fourth Note: Sci-fi isn't a genre I'm usually interested in but both the winner and runner-up look AWESOME so it might actually get me more into it Fifth Note: I'm probably gonna skip the drama ones. They look awesome in style but drama isn't one I'm interested in as much as a focus of genre Sixth Note: Love After World Domination is SUCH a good anime! Like Robyn said it's Power Rangers crossed with Romeo and Juliet but done in a very comedic way and it's BRILLIANT. Shame it was only runner-up Seventh note: Yeah no surprise Chainsaw Man won. Futo P.I. is a great and enjoyable series and I do recommend you to watch the series that originate from Kamen Rider W (the W is pronounced as double and should be obvious on why when you watch the series) that's Shotoro and Phillip being best bros with an ending i am sure will get Robin to cry. Look I know it's a minor nitpick and not all that important (but most importantly not trying to be a um atcktuly guy) Futo P.I. is not Super Sentai but instead is Kamen Rider. Yes I know the are produced by the same people and both are tokusaku Super hero series, but they do have enough differences to count as slightly different kind of series. I do have recommendations of both Kamen rider and Super Sentai series i think you would enjoy and would be open to help you with any videos if you ever want someone who is more familiar with kind of stuff.

I'm sorry, but giving Blue Lock of all things the runner up award of "Best Animation" is just laughable, and gives me the impression you're one of those that thinks that animation quality is based on detail/art, which is *not* how it is, at all. All of Blue Lock's matchs are very limited when it comes to actual animation, and this gets specially worse in the second half. From this year alone, Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Akebi's Sailor Uniform, Do It Yourself, Encouragement of Climb and the second half of Ranking of Kings deserved to win it way more.

If 22 it’s a tough call between Chainsaw Man and Spy x Family for best anime. The second half of Attack on Titan season 4 was also very good. That said, my personal favorite? The second cour of the Case Study of Vanitas, it was an excellent seconded half to the first season. Love your video!

Robin, I love you, but as a massive tokusatsu nerd, I cannot let this slide. First off, IT'S PEE-EYE, NOT PIE! As in, short for private investigator! And second of all, and this is the biggest problem...... IT'S NOT SUPER SENTAI! IT'S KAMEN RIDER! In fact, if you'd bothered to check, you would know that Fuuto PI is a direct sequel to Kamen Rider W from 2009! Sorry if I come off as a bit pushy, but it always triggers my inner tokusatsu nerd when people can't tell the difference between super Sentai and Kamen Rider.

Safe, boring and mediocre, as well as copying premises of other anime, is the reason I barely consume any new anime, and instead stick with the classics. Seriously! we've been getting like 30+ anime per year, and only 3-5 of them are good! Also, why are all these bad shows getting positive feedback?! Are fans just blind sheep?! As for Slave Harem, my 2 biggest gripes are: the MC's eye expression does NOT change throughout the entire show, and we don't see the harem until the last 2 minutes of the final episode! WTH?!

inmoral guild is a fan service manga without a question BUT the mountain hunt arc is soo good that you will think that you are reading some other manga the fights are really good they deepnd the plot of almost everything and the finale is so emotional is a figth were nobody really won and the best part is that thos event were the result of another emotional and MUCH less ecchi arc that ended with the "dead" of a good character and that dead was the catalyst for the best arc of the manga even if you dont like fan service i will reccomend read this arc is that good and i hope that i can see it animated Sorry for the bad english my main language is spanish and even in spanish i had a lot of gramatical and spelling mistakes so sorry but really read that arc is really good

Fuuto pi is technically a spin-off of a kamen rider show not a super sentai although there are time where members of super sentai and kamen rider were together but just not in this anime still recommended it for any kamen rider w fans plus love after world domination was more super sentai than Fuuto pi was

Yup. It honestly reminded me a lot of that assassin isekai. Just felt like another Isekai but with an Edgelord lead. Not a bad idea for a lead honestly, but the Isekai part killed the show for me.
