(I'm 38 and) the age thing, I think, is a matter of how important age is to a young child. Almost every interaction you have with another person uses your age as an important point of context or information - your school year and thus your peer group; when you get to move from the kids' table to the grown up table at family gatherings; and when meeting an adult for the first time as a child, the first thing they always ask is how old you are. Obviously this piece of information is important when interacting with adults, and also helps establish a sort of 'pecking order' with other children. :)

I think pianos are always the horror movie instrument because there’s a lot of songs that you’d normally need a band to play that you can play with just a piano. Pianos are one of the only instruments to allow playing chords, and among the others, pianos are the most “elegant yet ominous,” as you said.

I think pianos are depicted as the creepy instrument in movies because: 1. They're big: People would be more afraid of a huge piano floating around than a flute in the air. 2. They just make some creepy sounds. 3. They're harder to get rid of: Main characters can't just yank them out a window. 4. They're black and white: I think black and white is a spooky combo. 5. Movement is easier to spot: If a key is pressed, you can see it clearly go down and if some ghost is playing something, you can see the keys move well enough. If a ghost played a set of drums, that would be creepy and movement is easy to see too but it doesn't really make scary sounds, just some startling ones and gives you the rock concert vibes instead of some-weird-shit's-about-to-go-down vibes. 6. Pianos are usually very old because people don't just get rid of old ones and new ones are too expensive, so the ancient-ness just make for a good creepy vibe.

As someone who scanned groceries for a summer, yeah. That happens a lot when you’re starting out, and then the occasional weird one will hit ya. I’ll admit that I scanned all peppers (red-green) as only red just because I couldn’t be bothered to type in the different codes for the peppers (I still don’t know the code for orange peppers). But yeah, those codes are the hardest part of the job.

Yo! I understand not knowing orange peppers because honestly it's the only one of the peppers that starts with a 3 (3121) instead of a 4 like the yellow and red. I never really found that part stressful because its on the computer where i live and you don't have to type in the code if you don't know it off the top of your head. I only type them in because I've worked at different grocery stores for 5 years so I've learned them after typing them in so many times lol

I'd say the organ is the more spooOOOoOoOooooooooOOoooOOOoOOoOOOOOoooOOoooOOOooOooOky instrument, but part of the reason is that they're big, expensive instruments associated with power (and for the case of the organ, religion) which makes them a good pick for a supernatural horror villain

From a production standpoint pianos are one of the few interments that you can make it play itself with messing with the machinery inside. Same with the lid slamming down. There’s lots of room to hide stuff inside the body to make it pretty seem less. So in old live action movies it was a cool effect that you could do and the idea stuck after that.

I imagine dogs would create a lot of intricate art involving smells, which humans unfortunately couldn't fully appreciate. I'd love to experience that. Also, the tools used by an advanced dog society would likely look very different from human tools, since dogs hold things in their mouths, rather than an appendage. That would certainly be weird, though. I can imagine an exchange between dogs that was like, "Hey, can I borrow your screwdriver?" "Sure, just make sure to clean your drool off of it when you're done."

I feel like piano is extra creepy in comparison to most other instruments because it has the ability to be polyphonic, able to play multiple notes at once. At a piano, one person can play an entire (polyphonic) song, having all the musical power, unlike someone playing, to use your example, a saxophone. You could also view it as the opposite, it’s pretty hard to tell how many people are at a piano just by sound (unless they’re playing a particular virtuous or widely-ranged piece), so you could walk in to see one person, a duet, or maybe even three people (probably sitting uncomfortably on the piano bench). Any thoughts on this?

I think young kids feel obliged to say their age because it is a central part of their identity which determines who they are allowed to socialize with, what classes they attend, who they play sport against, and the kind of behavior that is expected from them.

Hey Jaiden! 😁 I just wanted to add to the last question… I remember when I was younger I would always tell my friends online or people that I’ve never met before in real life that can’t see me in person (like online games) what my age was. For me it was because I didn’t have very many friends, I would always want to make sure they knew my age first before becoming my friend because I was worried that if they where older than me, and found out I was a little kid, that they wouldn’t want to be my friend anymore. Instead I would tell them my age to make sure they knew before wanting to hang out with me. 😅 I don’t really know, but that’s just was going on in my head. 😂 Anyway I hope you have a wonderful day/night! 👋😁 -June🦜

Can confirm, holding a hummingbird is one of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever had. The poor bird kept flying in circles and falling onto the ground, so I got a medicine dropper, filled it with sugar water, and put it up to the hummingbird’s beak. I’d never realized that when a hummingbird drinks, it’s tongue actually shoots out to collect the nectar. It was so cool to see. Once it got a drink, it flew away perfectly fine. I still can’t believe I had that experience though, it was insane.

i had my bird for about 5 months and a random robin ran into my window and i ran outside to see a bunch of feathers and bird grime everywhere and i felt SOOOOO BAD i started crying because i couldn’t do anything to help it i wanted to hold it so bad and comfort it while it slowly died but all i did was sit with it and called my dad and he threw it over the fence. all i could think about was my 5 month old bird, i immediately washed my hands and went to cuddle him, because i couldn’t bare the thought of that happening to my boy 😭 (also your psycho if you don’t eat the half popped kernels)
