I totally understand the lightning thing... Especially when you're out in the middle of the ocean. With a 40' lightning pole sticking out of the middle of your house. Make A good reason to be nervous My dear..... I remember the last time you guys had a scare that the boat was going down... What's the big hole in your boat.... Two factors contribute to the cogency of this saying. The first is that weather systems generally travel from west to east in the mid latitudes. Because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, a rising sun in advance of an approaching weather system would illuminate the approaching mid- and high-level clouds to create a red sky in the morning. Alternatively, if the sun is setting as a weather system exits and high pressure is building, then the departing clouds would be illuminated. This would create a red sky at night with fair weather to follow.

Beau that was some excellent freestyle unhooked fish wrangling there. Multifissimo- Unlike the one sailing guest girl let the one being prepped for supper slip over the edge into the patiently waiting shark. 😔 I just told that story when you were noodling under that rock and above you was a circling she - shark. I say he not at risk of being bitten shark doesn't have arms its waiting for another hunter to catch something. I still see that fish plop over the edge.

Get Talos lightning detector, it might help relieve some worries. FYI some passagemakers leave port when 30 kts predicted, get a grip your boat can handle it.

It’s lighting around you. That’s good. Deep water below you that’s even better. As long you move and your boat is damp on the outside it’s no worries about getting struck. All the BS lighting preventers are no use to any boat. Static electrical charge build must dissipate to be equal to the surroundings. Rolling thunder as you experienced is horizontal discharge. 95 % of thunder and lightning is horizontal. Deeper water is less likely to take on a strike. The feeders / leaders will not reach up that far up. Leaders are rising form the Earth upwards to meet a discharge form the cloud.

the saying about sky color isn't just a saying... sun rises in the east and if the sky is red that means light had to go through particles that filter light (water) and you end up with red sky... since the earth is rotating towards east you are going to go through that particles...

Cilantro-haters for whom the plant tastes like soap, the issue is genetic. These people have a variation in a group of olfactory-receptor genes that allows them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavored aldehydes in cilantro leaves.
