I am also a dietitian from the Philippines and I know how hard it is to get the compliance of the patient whenever we're doing the nutrition education. I love you videos btw ❤

Oh man!! You are the undercover backbone of the Filipino health! What kind of diets do you guys prescribe to your patients there?
@loussel034 жыл бұрын
@@amandavsevilla I believe that there is no a one size fits all diet for all the patients. So I'm recommending a diet based on their current conditions, laboratory results and their preference of course.

Just want to say thanks for reminding us of reflection again. I feel like acting according to intuition or feeling is actually often the healthy thing to do if listen, like actually listen 🙈 I too feel like after some time you get a better view of things. It's so funny, I've known your channel since you were still at uni, and I was too then.

Love your videos. I am studying to be a dietician now and am a vegan as well. I went vegan after seeing my dad have multiple heart attacks on the Standard American diet. Figured if he would not change I could evolve myself and eat much better. Now I hope to teach others about a whole food vegan diet since 647,000 Americans die every year from heart disease according to the CDC. Not to downplay the COVID19 risks, but at this time 400 Americans have died from it. Heart disease, strokes, and some cancers are big risks. I think you are doing important work and I hope to join you someday as a dietician.

Thanks for joining and for your passion to help others! We could always use more vegan dietitians.

@MiissJuliet3 жыл бұрын
Dietetic student here :) You don’t have to be vegan, vegetarian, etc to become a dietitian. I personally am vegan but it’s not like it’s a requirement - I went vegan way before even deciding to go to school for dietetics.
@sarapardo24222 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am vegan and am interested in becoming a dietitian but one of my instructors told me most health care facilities require annual flu shots which are not vegan. I am just wondering if this is true and if it has been an issue for you. Thanks so much!

Why do you want to become a physician instead of remaining a dietitian? Because im contemplating the same choice and still can’t decide on it really because both choices seem equal in a way to me... as im currently studying to become an RD :)
@amandavsevilla4 жыл бұрын
Physician was plan A, being a dietitian is just a side quest haha
@jaclyntiffany53674 жыл бұрын
I might be asking too early since I'm only a few minutes into the video, but do you remember how your per diem schedule was, how many hours and days a week it was, and whether you had any flexibility with hours, etc? May be getting a per diem position soon! Ty!
@amandavsevilla4 жыл бұрын
It was really flexible since my hospital needs all the RDs they can get. The only thing is that I can’t go over 5 shifts per 2-week pay period so I would normally just work the weekends and that would easily meet my 5 shift max. Other per diems are only available mondays and Wednesday’s for example so that’s how they are scheduled. My boss is really forgiving and flexible though so it also depends on who makes your schedules.

Something I thought of, how is it promoting a plant based diet (subtly like you do) amongst other dietitians? Do they ever try and go against your opinion/ do you experience any conflict or opposition, or do they generally agree with you even if they arent plant based themselves? Has your example helped encourage them to start talking about plant based diets more with their patients? Just wondering. Thanks!
@amandavsevilla4 жыл бұрын
No they know that a plant based diet can be healthy if planned properly. And seeing as I have had a lot of experience and education with plant based nutrition they don’t doubt or question my opinion. It’s all just “everyone eats what they eat” type thing. We all definitely shit on keto and low carb diets though haha
