Is it not really difficult to play with D-Buttons vs Stick? I don’t understand how it works
@HushMySweet16 ай бұрын
I think most people don't have the arcade/joystick nostalgia (especially the newer, younger players), so many find direction buttons more intuitive than a lever. So, we've seen all-button controller usage explode in the last couple years.

@@HushMySweet1 Is it similar to mouse n keyboard then, but obvs no mouse? I think it would be cool to learn and you can defo get some sick looking arcade button set ups from what I saw in your vid
@HushMySweet16 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think you are right to compare them to a keyboard. And I think that's part of the reason why newer players are gravitating that way (they are more likely to have some experience with WASD / PC gaming, so it may just be more intuitive). There are also some cool little shortcuts and such you can do which makes them slightly more optimal over joysticks imo. At the end of the day, it's whatever is most comfortable/fun though. That's sort of the direction arcade sticks seem to be headed. There has been a huge influx of those style of devices in the past few years (though they have been around for over a decade). They are called all-button controllers or leverless controllers. They are pretty precise and lend themselves well to certain games. I think they appeal to the newer gen of players who come from PC gaming background and don't have the nostalgia of arcades/joysticks. Thanks for watching!

They are all functionally the same as standard sticks and all-button controllers. So, yes, there hasn't been a victory by someone with a wild custom controller to my knowledge, but using a wild custom controller doesn't automatically preclude you from winning. All-button controllers are basically synonymous with fightsticks at this point. Thanks for watching all the same, and hopefully I can spot more levered sticks next time!
@martingutierrez26656 ай бұрын
@@HushMySweet1 I frequent and comment on the subreddit often, and I definitely see how popular leverless is. I feel like nothing is being done to preserve the traditional stick. When I see posts and videos where traditional sticks are getting featured less and less, it starts to reinforce the idea in peoples minds that "sticks are dead". Hitbox's marketing and a lot of misinformation being spread has also done a lot of damage a well. While I do think that it's great that there are a lot of alternative input options for people to use, I dislike that it's coming at the expense of Stick being phased out.
@HushMySweet16 ай бұрын
Thanks for your perspective! I get what you're saying and I'm obviously a huge fan of traditional fightsticks as well. I think K-lever enthusiasts are helping to hold the torch since that experience is so different to leverless, and then things like the Antagonist button also arguably help to keep things competitive for joysticks (though it didn't really catch on quite like I thought it might). And even though they've lost some ground, I don't think that traditional fightsticks are going away anytime soon. There were still tons of sticks in the Evo finals. So, fingers crossed we'll see a sizeable percentage of sticks in the years to come!
