I have the Evo 2022 Snack box Micro edition that I'm upgrading with the M2 PCB 1.5. It's SUPPOSED to be an easy swao but my switches won't all fully pop back in place no matter how much I line the PCB up. Some of the are slanted and not all the way in and don't seem to pop all the way in no matter how much I push. Any tips?
@HushMySweet1
@HushMySweet1 6 сағат бұрын
It sounds like the switch prongs are bent. I would remove the offending switches and look at them again. Straighten out anything bent and then carefully line them up before applying pressure (they can only be seated one way, so make sure the prongs are going in the appropriate holes). I'd do all this with just the bare PCB so that top acrylic art layer will be less likely to get in the way of your vision. Hope that helps. Good luck!

A user DM'ed me a similar comment on discord. I really think it all depends on what a user prioritizes in a controller, but this is what I told them: Cosmox has a bigger catalog of devices so you can likely find more (small S line if you like portability and M line if you like metal). If it's the choice between the DuelPad A16 and the T16 Crystal then both feel extremely similar. If you like slightly smaller buttons and that left pinky function, then go DuelPad. If you prefer larger buttons and the left palm function, then go Cosmox. The prices are also similar. If you want your own art, then FA prints laser-cut art for most Cosmox products, but if you'd like the ease of new caps from the same place you order your controller from, DuelPad. Also the layouts aren't quite identical, so measuring from the left side of the left function (not the left pinky extra, mind you) to the right edge of the 3P button on both devices, the spacing is different. DuelPad A16 is 7 3/4" and the T16 is nearly ~8 1/2". Not much in the grand scheme of things, but might help you pick one over the other. If your hand size leans smaller/average, DuelPad. If they lean average/bigger, T16. Both are solid options at the end of the day though. Hope that helps!

Great guide! i have a question tho~ Which USB cable did you use for the PCB? Just a normal USB C to A phone charging cable?how much Volts/ampere are needed?
@HushMySweet1
@HushMySweet1 16 сағат бұрын
I just used a standard USB C-A as you said. I think I picked up that one from Amazon, in a basic package of more appropriately sized ones that I have already used. I think it was 16" but really, you probably only need ~10" or less, though to some extent it depends where you mount you PCB. Most Brook boards have a USB B connection, however, so good to know if you aren't going with one of these advanced breakout boards. Anyway, thanks for watching and best of luck with your build! @SGFDevices 19 сағат бұрын
Hey thanks for asking! The lowest profile we offer overall is our flat (flatbox-style) shape. If you're looking for drop-in buttons that replace a standard arcade button (like a Sanwa button), you'd want the MonKey B.U.T.T.s with a flat profile. If you have a premade PCB-based controller (like one of ours or a Haute or Granola, etc) then you just want the MonKeys button caps in the flat shape.

Seems to be exactly what I need. As an octagate player and soon will be trying circle gate too, one thing that annoys me on current sticks is the whole 4 switch idea. In crunch moments when I want to gi straight diagonally one switch will almost always be pressed slightly sooner than the other, as a result if my button input again due to speed is right on that split frame of the wrong input (1 of the 2 instead of both) I consistently get the wrong move out. Its so annoying its killing me. I thought there must be eight switch sticks, no? Apparently its not a thing, whicha is dumb as glue of you ask me, so I am so glad I found your video.

So all of Haute42 stuff (and a lot of these other smaller all-button controller businesses, really) make use of GP2040-CE firmware in their devices. That allows easy access to a web configurator and you can remap, or even disable, whatever buttons you want. As long as you have a PC you can hook it up to to get into the configurator, there is a ton of cool little things you can do. This is also that same thing that allows SOCD changes, LED lighting changes, and OLED splash screen changes (if your controller has the screen anyway). Tons of customization! Good luck!

A Sanwa JLF/JLX is already about the lowest price point lever we can tap. We could change the buttons to Sanwa or Hori for some reduced cost. I have an older video about a "shadow fightstick" where I try to give tips on where you can cut corners to reduce the overall price of a build. Maybe worth looking into to see where you can save. But if you can get an enclosure for cheap, that will go a long way toward keeping the money down. As far as other arcade part suppliers outside the US, I'm not overly familiar with them. Hey! Yeah, this one has caps that extend ~4 mm above the top plexi, so the slides are passable and fairly similar to a lot of other default all-button options. So not the worst, but not its best feature either. But the caps are smooth, even on the edges, so that helps. Still, you'll like have to get a feel for the pressure and speed to do clean slides every single time. I was thinking one with both hit box style and joystick built in. Some games i may want to use one or the other style. Maybe split hit box style a bit (like the one you had splited) with joy stick in the middle where joystick would act as left stick of controller. Maybe have a small thumb stick below right side buttons (low kick) near where thumb rest act as right stick. This way, it basically has all the controller functions. I have an old video on "hitsticks" that showcases sort of what you're talking about. Usually the joystick is on the far left and the movement buttons are more in the middle, but you could build it however you'd like. Still, the vid might serve as good inspiration and give you an idea of what other people have done. Thanks for watching!

It really depends on what you prioritize. If you really like optical switches, then the Kitsune will have this beat. If you like arcade style buttons, then Hit Box will win. Does it need to work right out of the box on the PS5 or are you okay with some tinkering? The Kitsune will work straight away, but something like the Haute42 T16 Crystal (if you want to install artwork) or the M16+ (if you prefer metal) are cheaper and have more button options, but you have to install a dongle to make sure they work on PS5. It's easy to do, but some people don't like to mess with their controllers. Mavercade also has some fun layouts if you like these ones with more button options. It's hard to give a true recommendation without knowing what you prioritize in a controller, but all of the ones I mentioned will function well. Thanks for watching!

Amazing interview, it was pretty cool to see the insight and logistics of someone working in the arcade controller industry. I was wondering if you could somehow use your secret arcade stick influencer powers to interview JFA, the Train, and/or Haute?

I talked to TheTrain about one and he is likely down for one. I'll add the others to my short list for a potential future one. Thanks for watching! (And lol @ arcade stick influencer powers)

@@HushMySweet1 Thatd be sick. I feel like those 3 in particular have been so important towards whats happening in the modern controller landscape. It's really crazy stuff. Also you can't try and hide it, I'm onto you!
