If you look at their stats, forest bandits seem to be quite good for their wage. High Bow skill (150) and a good bow (76dmg, 88Speed). So this might be the best bang for the buck unit.

They regularly kill my highborn warriors/ (non champion) fians in the cutscene when you raid hideouts, because the fians/highborns go into an archer shoot-out with them and they pay the price lol.

I've already done that, an all-female mercenary party. It's hard in every way, hard to recruit, more expensive upkeep than a Fian, being reckless is not optional, they can fire a lot of projectiles and do almost no damage, making them charge into a shield wall against low level infantry is even lethal. In a matter of skill, she is the best crossbowman, she is disadvantaged by her lousy crossbows and her low level armor (her only strongest piece of armor is t4, the rest all t3 and below) This lousy armor contributes to having a chance of highest death, even with you being a high-level doctor.

I love how every fian champion looks like a lord from distance. I often focus on them for this reason. Actually most of t6 troops look like a lord but there is someting with fian champions.

When i see that an enemy has any fian archers ... I focus them down very rapidly Same with things like the imperial sgt crossbows. I focus them down Ive seen battles where, after ive been knocked out, it was fairly even... but the infantry left over couldnt dislodge the battanian archers...and got wrecked.

I believe it's also important to consider melee effectiveness as a small plus point to the archers. Like 50 archers Vs 50 basic melee troop to see who wins

Testing idea. Ive noticed a rock/paper/scissors scenario in my simple 300v300 unit testing (Open field battles) First one : 300 elite cataphracts beat 300 Druhzinnik Champions, 300 Druhzinnik Champions beat 300 Bannerknights, 300 Bannerknights beat 300 elite Cataphracts I found another one but i totally forgot 😅 I have also tried lots of units VS t4 Falxmen. Out of all shield combatants, Vlandian sharpschooters seemed the best at fighting them. Maybe the size of the shield covers the troops next to them? Idk, my falxmen were very uneffective while they slice through Legionaries like butter.

Bummer that you didn't include cavalry. To this day, I'd like to know who would win in a 500v500: Fian Champions or Khans Guard on foot

Would have been useful to see kills vs. charging cavalry, although based on the robustness of the Fian Champ performance I would expect Fian, Palantine / Master Aseri to still be the top three. I look at kills after each battle, and my observations match this... In particular I've noted that the sisters are highly overpaid based on combat kills delivered compared to other units.

Cool tests for sure very interesting. One thing though when you tested the veterans sword sisters the math was incorrect #2 having 88 kills and #1 having 243, if #1 is used to determine what 100% effectiveness is then 88 for #2 would not be36.2% 88x3(which would be 30%)=264 not 243. Same inaccuracy with percentages. Unless I am missing another number you used to determine 100%. Not trying to be a jerk just trying to help, I can’t help myself I’m a numbers guy (went to school for Accounting and Economics lol) ANYHOW! GREAT content! Keep it up! 💪🏼

Id like to see the actual video of the crossbowmen (sharpdhoooters) shooting the unarmored people. Because they are a lot more effective than fian in my gameplay.

Yeah, something that's irking me with these tests is... it's going by in the case of archers everyone blinding running straight into them in a wide line or just standing there, which yeah no sh1t the bowman will out perform the crossbowmen in that set up, I don't need this test to tell me that. Or in the case of melee everyone just running at each other in one big slug fest, which yeah... of course most times the various two-handers are going to beat any one with less damage output and armor in a straight slugfest because that's what they do, putting the shield units at greater disadvantage when you don't have them set up for shield wall while also being more meant for dealing with ranged or cavalry pending the unit and formation. I keep hoping for some sort of insight from these tests and every time I'm like, "well... duh, look at the set up you created.", none of it taking in account for various unit formations and field placement or the units themselves. I dunno, think just giving up this channel at this point.

What the hell is wrong with all these rebalances... aren't they too rebalancing? I'm trying to say that they completely turn over the old balance. I remember well that one day Aserai Archers were amongst the worst and Imperial Xbomen were the best (after fians). And now the situation changed to 180°. I can't say it's wrong. Hard to say, if the archer is on horse, a glaive would probably be best, if foot, glaive would be great too, but maybe a two handed sword/axe.

hopefully they buff crossbowmen so they're good at sieges like they're clearly supposed to, it's ridiculous that the Fians are still the superior archer(and footsoldier) this long into development

Theyre t6 troops and are noble line troops Given theyre competing with khans guards, cataphracts and such... they have to be especially good at what they do Also a lack of shield means they can be pincusioned if youre not careful
