Before Helioskrill was available to everyone I always had a mini heart attack when I encountered an enemy with it equipped cause you know that player has went through hours and hours of deaths and loading screens and doing the same zone in a mission 20 times before finally getting through it. I have respect to anyone that got it the hard way

The Irish farmer :) not really. Halo CE, 3, and 4 are easy to solo legendary. Halo 2, you just needed to pop on the Scarab skull and unlimited ammo skull and it would count as you beating the campaign on legendary

For me, a "Tryhard" isn't simply a person who wants to play well/be "good." It's someone who, yes, desires such a thing, but is willing to go to unnatural and/or unfun ways of attaining such a status, to the point where, in comparison to standard or "casual" players, they appear to exert too much effort for said status (or an item like Achilles gear; a perceived denotation of status in itself), and thus take the game too seriously, dedicating themselves to it so much so that it no longer becomes a game, after which point they will destroy newcomers or longtime casuals alike, causing resentment from said victims and earning their notorious title for the overarching reason that, in their quest to have attained such a skill level and/or item of rank, they have "tried too hard."

My perception is very similar: Tryhard- A player who either doesn't notice or doesn't care that thier devotion to being the best is negatively impacting the experience of other players, whether it be through cheap tactics, exerting too much effort, Smurfing or queing for casual/social playlists

I have full Achilles. I notice that it DOES make a difference in warzone, but also I found ranked objective and ranked slayer. I play at the diamond-onyx tier, sometimes playing champs, but it still made a difference. I found I wasn't overstrafing as much, and that I felt more powerful because I was winning roughly 85% of my gunfights, comparatively, in any other playlist, I find that I only win about 70%

I always thought players with achilles armor were better than me until I got it.When I first put it on, I noticed a significant advantage in my gameplay.Then I came up with a theory that achilles doesn't buff the players in any way, but instead it has something to do with psychology (as you said) which means that a lot of players upon seeing people who wear achilles, think that they are more skilled than them which is not the case.That's why whenever I come up against a player who wears that armor, I always try to keep that thought away and I win those gunfights almost every time.

I noticed the exact same effect from the katana(had to get all achievements to unlock) and to some extent the recon helmet in Halo 3. Unnerving your opponent when a single nervous twitch ruins your aim genuinely affects how matches go.

As someone has stated earlier, this is psychological warfare in a sense. In truth, you just *seem* more intimidating than others, due to the different style of armor. However, it does not signify that your armor has a higher capacity to take damage. It just tends to cripple the morale of opponents.

Hmmm... You make interesting points about the perception of this armour an after recently obtaining it I have noticed a slight difference in my gunfights where the enemy seem almost apprehensive to fire upon me. This only happened once or twice a game though and so I'm gonna rock the armour set for the foreseeable future.

I unlocked everything gold pack unlockable in like 5 months, I have a full time job as well so yeah I had 15 days worth of play time got everything from silver packs and then used the "Smurf gift packs" (if you play 8 games of swat with the new boosts it'll get the account to lvl 5 and you get a free gold gift pack I did that 40 times or so and used the gold packs I regularly got for playing and yeah

I have the helmet and armour but I don't actually use it because I don't like the look personally. when I face people wearing it actually think to myself "this guy thinks he's good... time to ruin his day" And I generally don't perform better or worse against players wearing it. I win gunfights I normally win and lose the ones I normally lose. That being said I rank onyx in most playlists so I'm a higher end player so I still fit in with your findings.

In halo 3 the hitboxes change with helmets. So i guess that makes the rogue helmet the most optimal because its the smallest. The hayabusa tip can be sniped...

When I was a bad player as soon as I saw Achilles I thought to myself that I was going to lose which was typically the case, now however that I have it I don't see that as the case. I think I actually do slightly worse when I play with it and I get bagged every time I die usually. I believe I play much better with armors like Venator, HellJumper, and Helioskrill.

GazpachoMacho your missing the point here. When people see the Achilles armor set, they immediately associate them as tryhards, and there is a bit of fear. I can immediately confirm this. Every time I come across someone in Achilles, I have flashbacks of full teams grinding warzone, sorta like a Vietnam vet😂. Because of the helmets notorious status and what it takes to get it, people are going to react to that person very differently compared to someone who is using say the Hunter armor

To be fair, I've seen some truly awful players wearing Achilles. A lot of times, a newer player can be (and/or is) invited to join a Company right before the armor is earned. I've seen several instances of this, long-time players inviting newer ones they've made friends with, or those long-time players inviting their buddy who just got H5.

What about high ranking players wearing low grade armor? like a level 100 wearing the recruit armor? or how about othet armors? Mostly because I tend to find extremely skilled players in Halo Reach that either wear the Default helmet or the recon, Can you do a analysis on this please?
