This is my favourite line I heavily analysed it and found new lines for black and used it to beat an IM otb

Romantic chess from the second half of the nineteenth century. Great analysis highlighting that this was all about move order. The first lesson is not to make concessions until you are forced to do so. The second lesson is that in the next game it may well be necessary to make the prophylactic move. And the third and most difficult lesson is to understand when to apply lesson one and when to apply lesson two. Great choice of game. Great - and colourful - commentary. Thank you.

It takes some courage to go into these crazy lines against an opponent almost 500 rating points higher, props to Cortez for that, but yeah black just giving the exchange is also the reason why I stopped playing this with white and Stockfish seems to agree that is the way to refute it.

I am around 2140 and I played this decades ago vs players around 2100-2200 a few times, luckily nobody challenged it with cb5 :) I agree that move is the most worrysome.

@ChessJourneyman

The skill level here was way too low to call it the best attacking game of the Olympiad. We've all had "brilliancies" against ~1600 rated opponents, which is what this is if you take into account the recent inflation of the ratings and the fact that these players gain most of their rating competing in closed events.

This is the definition of not to play weird position (as in being greedy), because maybe we, lower rated players don't know how to punish you, but when you meet someone who knows how to punish you, don't worry, they will!!! 🥲 I'd call his type of playstyle "pepega chess".
