The breakdown of top quality baritone ukuleles at the various price points is invaluable! Why haven't you done a video like this before now? I'm actually glad that someone complained to you. Everyone else benefits from your response. :) I am grateful that you care about the quality of not only the instruments you have for sale, but for being sure people are learning from your videos, tutorials, live Q&As, and general interactions. You've got to care for it to matter, and it's obvious that you care! Your generosity and caring spirit flow from you to everyone who works with you. Thank you for making this video.

Terry, you do you! You started from practically nothing and worked your way up into the big leagues. I’m super happy for you. Your enthusiasm and hard work got you here. ULTP is a great success. You’re constantly evolving in your craft and your business and all of it translates beautifully to your customers. I know how much time and effort it takes to build a business from the ground up and you’ve done it masterfully. Thanks for being you! 🙂

There is no best Baritone except for the one a person is happy playing and enjoys the sound that comes from it.

Having been an ukulele player for about a year, I initially didn't want to spend lots of money on an instrument that I was a beginner learning to play. I have continued to purchase lesser priced instruments that fit my budget according to my expertise. I do as much research as possible before deciding on which ukulele I want to buy. I own an Ohana BK-20 solid mahogany top baritone purchased from ULTP, strung with Worth browns, which has a deep, rich tone reminiscent of a classical acoustic guitar. I also play a Mitchell MUB70-S/N baritone, a solid spruce top that is strung with standard ukulele tuning (PhD) with low G. I also have a really, really inexpensive baritone strung with standard ukulele tuning (Aquila new nylgut) with high G. I play every day, and continue to improve with each session. I practice chord progressions, scales, finger style, and chord melodies. Once I feel my expertise has reached a worthiness for a more expensive, better-sounding instrument, I'll make that leap. For now, the instruments I own and practice on, what I can reasonably afford, are the best that money can buy, thanks to the help and advice from Terry Carter.

Jeremy schram here. Nice video. Appreciate candid review. You have been forthright in your personal preferences. I enjoy the reviews and purchased 3 koaloha ukeleles and love the quality, sound, feel. Again, Amazing quality as u have always promulgated. Instructional videos are quality too. Keep this thing going as it is a haven for us ukuleleists.

ULTP, never purchased from you as relatively new to Ukes and music playing in general. However, that said, your reviews are honest, but also based on experience, which Is what the internet and Uke community needs. Your enthusiasm for the products you stock and let’s face it, is extensive covering an extensive range of the best manufacturers covering all price ranges shines through. I believe you are the only site that stocks so many baritones, far more than other sites. Who wouldn’t be happy buying from you and you can hear and see the instrument before you buy. Take a deep breadth and buy the way, hopefully I can play as good as you one day and justify owning such a gorgeous instrument as you played in the Video. Am sure manufacturers appreciate your honesty as well, it will drive their innovation and we benefit as buyers. Respect.

Terry, you and your team provide a very high quality in all you do. Courses, instruments, communication, information... You are an impressive professional and we love you as the passionate musician you are, sharing generously with lots of humanity and openness to others. Please stay the way you are! As says Kimo Hussey, the choice of an instrument also depends on the personal preferences you have, there is no good or wrong. The brands too have each their specific sound. The point of "you get what you pay for" was always clear to me. And I also know that intermediate price-class instruments are absolutely valuable to be played. One last point is the musician who plays the instrument. Lower price-class ukuleles also sound very good when they are played with expertise. Because they are not trash, so why would you say it's bad when it's not. It's just different in sound and purpose. Keep going!!! Lovely video by the way.

I appreciate the way you presented this video. Criticism is not all bad. It helps us to improve what we are already doing a good job with. I too appreciate a balanced view of each product. Evan J de Silva is a 15 yr old amazing uke player. He does reviews on his blog that are beyond his years. He presents the pros of each uke and also a con. No instrument is perfect for every application. That’s why we all have several ukes ☺️. Thanks for your hard work.

Hi Terry I think that you and your store all of your tutorials are totally awesome. You've always seemed sincere about everything to me. A friend of mine let me try out his kanile'a baritone ukulele and I thought it was great unfortunately it was out of my price range for a beginning player. You're awesome dude keep up the good work

Nice vid Terry. I love your work. As for best Baritione, I have a solid Cocobolo wood Baritone from Kevin Keith from Cocobolo Ukulele's in Nicaragua. It has Worth Brown strings and I've had many many comments from folk who cannot believe the tone that comes out of that bad boy. It looks amazing too. It probably fits into your "specialty" group, but they ARE available to everybody, you just have to look for them. All the best from Australia buddy.

It always boggles my mind at how many people want someone else to tell them what is “best”, especially when it comes to music and its creation, one of the most subjective things ever! IMHO the question people should be asking is what do you like and why do you like it? Its up to you the purchaser to know what YOU are looking for and why and ask the questions to determine which instrument will best meet ALL your requirements. Terrys videos provide everything you need to know to answer those questions if you have taken the time to ask them. If the salesman is directing you to a BEST anything without asking all these questions they are probably the ones working the sale not the customer satisfaction. ALL of the respected and knowledgable reviewers/stores know enough to let the customer ask the questions and they provide the expert info because they know there is no ONE Best instrument. A happy customer is the one who knows why THEIR instrument is the BEST for them. Keep up the great work!

Terry, I’m thinking of buying the Flight Fireball. I have the Diana tenor and I love the quality and sound. I really like a warm classical guitar sound, in that price point, is that the one I should be looking at getting?

Terry and ULTP are the most comprehensive and organized Presenters of some of the best ukuleles out there person that wrote that email must not spend any time on the Q&A and other awesome pools to gather information. I’ve always realized that “the best” is relative to the price point category. I pride myself in the ability to sniff out people who are just out for the sale and I have a really great BS detector.. Terry is passionate about the love of the craft and caring about people whether it’s. business partners or ULTP customers. Look at that - he even turns a negative email into a genuine demo of excellent baritone uks love it!

(Priceless info) I haven’t finished watching this yet, but wanted to say that (for me) Ive always considered that a business of course will have ever “T” crossed and make sure every “i” is dotted, so to speak when they send a uke for review. Im thinking everything will be spot on like intonation, rough edges, and everything that goes into a perfect professional setup and then hand it to a skilled musician who could possibly make music strumming a strand of dental floss. Also, note you will not be receiving the uke the reviewer has in “his hand”. After finishing this video just want to say thank you. Its an eye opener all this info. You are the best. It makes perfect sense to be in cohorts with a company that you consider makes the best highest quality ukes and then be friends too, is the icing on the cake.

You never talked about Leho baritone what is your opinion on them. I got one and am just learning but at some point might want to move up what would I be looking at, for a step or two up. I find the Leho sounds good when using a pick but, when I strum with my hands seems to be lacking not sure if it is me or the Leno.

Terry, I need your help, Are the "big" Ponos in the $1k range the best of the big sounding baritones? Are there other makers with with that same bigger sound in the $500+ range? Thanks
@Ukelikethepros
@Ukelikethepros 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. The Pono Big Baritones are one of a kind instruments. There are not a lot of brands that make these especially as a production instrument. The ULN4 and the BN4 are both super cool. The ULN4 are bigger than standard baritones and the BN4 is even bigger.

I have a number of fairly high-end production ukuleles. A Kanile'a baritone is my favorite, by far. Someday, just for pure ego gratification, I want a custom baritone. And I know Kanile'a will do those too.

Extremely helpful content and I’ve shared with my sister who is just getting into this amazing instrument, wish I could win a Baritone in your monthly competition x but I’ve yet to win anything I’m my 62 years on this wonderful planet, if I can save up enough cash for the Baritone it will be in the lower laminate sector as unfortunately my budget is low

The best baritone ukulele, for me, is one that comes in a left-handed version. I know I'm probably one of eight people in the world who are both left-handed and want to play ukulele, it's just discouraging the derth of information out there for us lefties . . . 😞

Good point. Any baritone ukulele can be converted to lefty. The only issue you might have is if the baritone has a cutaway or EQ system built in.

If all of the ukeleles you sell were gone through so the nut slots are cut correctly, the saddle is at the right height, the frets are dressed well,and the neck is straight, then you're good. Way too many reviews don't even talk about how nice the action is on the instrument they review.

Terry, it's simple logic. You are a businessman. Why would you want to sell any inferior product at any price range? If you customers are unsatisfied, word would spread and you would be bankrupt by now. This person who made the stupid expects you to bad mouth your own products or even someone else's? No reputable dealer I know of in the music industry does that!

I bought my Pono Ukulele from you knowing you are a dealer of these and that for the price the Mango Pono was a good buy that would satisfy my needs. I certainly think buyer beware is a good motto but if you do the research you’ll find Terry is upfront about the enthusiasm he feels about what he sells. Price point you are willing to pay 💰 is key. Decide thq’at then « listen » to the instruments. That is something Uke Like The Pros makes possible on line or at the shop! Not a groupie, just appreciate what Terry does for us enthusiasts and thankful for his uke and guitar classes. My advice, become a member and join our community.
