In this review of the Eufy 2K Wireless Video, we go over all of the features that makes this one of my favourite video doorbells on the market for your smart home, as well as cover some of the things it didn't get quite right. We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version kzbin.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

@@Thattguytron It records on a buffer 24/7. When it detects a person, it sends a notification to the phone with a zoomed thumbnail on the face, and then keeps the video in the onboard storage.

Very nice. I keep wanting to replace my Ring doorbell, but I'm really looking for something I can use with Home Assistant. I'm trying to centralize my smart home more, so there aren't so many disparate apps on my phone. Especially for my wife, folks, etc. I do like the local storage of this, so it's definitely a top contender now. Thanks for this. Excellent as always!

I've had my Eufy doorbell for about 6 months now and am very happy with it. Mine is wired however to the old doorbell system so I don't need to charge it and I have a lot of bells going off when there is someone at the door :-) Might have been interesting to other people if you mentioned that it can be wired if you want.

I have used the eufy doorbell for around 6 months. I wired the doorbell instead of using the battery. It's a good doorbell and it's nice that storage is local and the camera quality is really good. However, in my opinion the way Eufy markets their doorbell solution as supposedly more secure than ring or nest, because of local storage, is just completely bogus. The doorbell doesn't work without internet, because the base station requires a connection to the eufy cloud for authentication. Others have already mentioned the security incident where different users saw each other's camera feed; that occured a short while ago. It's very likely it was possible due to this design flaw that you authenticate from the cloud to your base station that stores your "local" recordings. If local authentication could be implemented then I would definitely recommend this doorbell. I am also very curious how you think about this design choice since you also work in cybersec :) I dumped the doorbell for the unifi G4. Unfortunately the HACS integration is good, but not fully there yet. At least I can now assure that my video doorbell is actually locally controlled and I can store 4TB of recordings instead of 16gb.

Funnily enough I was looking at these a couple of days ago, although I can't decide whether the wireless or wired 2K one is the better option. I like the fact that the storage is separate on the wireless one, and whilst the wired one has on-device storage it does offer a 3 second pre-record. I think ideally I'd want a combination of the hub for storage and the 3 second pre-record, but I don't think that's an option with the wired one. I believe the wireless one can be powered from existing bell wiring, so long as it falls within a certain voltage range, which means you never need to charge the battery. These are often on sale on Amazon and the Eufy store, so keep an eye on them, especially with Prime day fast approaching.

Hopefully it isn't too late, as I'm just a watcher 1 month later, but yes you can add secondary doorbell to the eufy homebase. This product is pretty universal if you have a big house you can also add more than one homebase through out your house as well. This is all done through the settings.

Bought one of these a month or so ago and I'm returning it.. Whilst the image quality is great and the zone selection is very good, the notifications are terrible.. I've been in the house and watched a delivery driver come to the door, ring the bell, leave and the alert comes in 2-3 minutes later. (I did answer the door). I'd rather pay a fairly cheap subscription for another doorbell than have this. Really wanted to love this item but it's got to go back.

The wired Eufy doorbell comes with 4GB of built-in storage, and there’s no way to add an SD card to expand the storage, but you can delete old and unnecessary footage and purchase a cloud storage subscription for $3.00/month. However, if you’re looking to keep your storage local, that is probably not an option. The Eufy wired, and battery doorbell units can be accessed by multiple devices with the Eufy app installed. The battery version of the Eufy doorbell can be increased up to 128GB via a microSD card inserted into the Homebase. It can also be connected to the existing doorbell wires, which will keep the batteries topped off without removing the doorbell to recharge it with a USB cable.

Wish it had PoE, providing a reliable power and network connection. I was hoping the Ubiquiti doorbell had PoE, but they went for WiFi as well. Is there no way to power this Eufy doorbell directly?

Yes you can actually power this directly, there is space for it at the back for using with existing doorbell wires! They also sell a wired version too! Hope that helps

If this doorbell uses its own signal with the base station what is the range? My house entrance has an awkward entrance and the doorbell would be 25 meters from the base station. Between them there would be 2 concrete wall and 2 brick wall. I think that is too much walls for the signal. I thought that if this is connecting through the wifi network I can boost the 2.4GHZ signal but it seems that is not working. 😒

Hi, hope you'll take a moment to reply. First of all, great video, thanks for sharing the many ups and downs. You mention that the base and doorbell are connected to each other, and not using your existing WiFi, if it me misreading you, or is this really the case? And if so, won't it affect the battery drain by placing the chime more central in your home. I'm fully happy with the performance of the unit, just slightly concerned regarding the battery. Hope you'll point me in the right direction, cheers BTW have a decent unifi AP based solution with several AP, wifi is working well.. But have a Scandinavian newly build house, which means it's thick insulation etc.

Hello, thanks! Yes, the doorbell and base station are connected directly to each other, not using WiFi. Then the base station also connects to WiFi so you can access it. Hope that helps

Solution; Reduce to either low or medium, and then return to high, it'll get right back at 2560x1920 I've ordered 4x Reolink 810A/820A and a single 822A - I hope their quality is blowing all the wireless options away (Eufy, Arlo and so on)

For me this doorbell needs to add the option to have it mains powered (even if only to keep the battery charged) and also the ability to turn on rtsp so i can link into HA the same as i have with my ring doorbell.. if eufy add these 2 options. you won't see my ring doorbell for dust and i'll be coming begging for you to print me a downward angled wedge to mount it aiming down as my doorstep is 6foot higher than the road.. great video as always..keep up the good work..

Am I right in thinking that with Eufy if someone steals one of your outdoor cameras and resets it, not only can they pair that camera to another homebase, but the video of the camera theft is deleted from the original homebase upon the hard reset?

It does actually! There is little screw terminals in the back for power. They also make a wired version which I would recommend if your going to wire it anyways as you will get some additional features

Hey! You should try to make an actionable notification that pops up and stays up if your TV is on. The background of the notification would change based upon what you're watching on the TV. The actions would be to increase the volume decrease the volume pause and play and turn the TV on or off. When the TV is turned off either by the notification or another service then the notification will automatically dismiss itself.

Love the review. Great information. Appreciate your thoughts. Glad to see that the bait station can be moved. I thought it needed to be continually attached to your router or modem. Trying to decide between eufy 2K or the 1080P. Perhaps in the distant running the WUUK. Need some thing fully wireless.

It appears that the wired version of this doorbell doesn't come with the base station.. so that means the SD card is 1) out in all weathers, and 2) vulnerable to being stolen. Eufy.. please rethink this and make is a Bundle..

camera doorbells are less useful, as wearing a balaclava is perfectly acceptable these days

After about 6 months of use I have to say if you are serious about security look somewhere else. Mine works properly about 50% of the time and I am quite disappointed with it's performance.

What issues did your have?

@@GordieK Mostly unwanted detection of cars passing by despite having set an activity zone that excludes the street, a human only detection mode on and a low motion sensitivity setting. I have lots of packages delivered and a fairly large percentage of those go undetected.

That doesn't change the fact that the video is pretty useless at this date and time. Yea, sure, couple of people will "discover" the Eufy Doorbell hence the low likes and views count.
