My favorite is the one I already have - the Ego. Ego's line of outdoor equipment is really nice. Everything works very well, and it's nice having the one battery platform for so many tools. I also have Milwaukee and DeWalt tools (drills, saws, etc), but for outdoor tools Ego is my brand.

My favourite. STIHL HSA 86 Cordless Hedge 24” with a AP500S battery absolutely brilliant great runtime with this setup.
@joeking433 Жыл бұрын
There is one attribute that everyone who has ever used a cordless trimmer knows matters the most. WEIGHT! I have a heavy Ryobi and my arm gets tired REAL quick! It's powerful but it just wears you out in no time! What hedge trimmer would you recommend that is light but still can cut some decent size stems?
@tgsgardenmaintenance4627 Жыл бұрын
As a self-employed gardener, it's great to see hedgecutters get a mention! The Stihl looked the best, as I have a great dealership I go to, so service and repairs are a doddle. It does need another 10cm's on the blade though. I currently use 2 Stihl's and 2 Husqvarna's . The HS-45, & HS -81R, the 122HD60 & 522HDR75X! I find that, an excellent combination! That said, if I was younger, I'd be going the battery route!

I have both Stih (petrol)l and Dewalt (battery) but I know have a back problem, which I don't think is ever going to go away. Have an acre of garden, plus hedges and need a lighter hedge trimmer. So I think the dewalt is the best option for me. Thanks for the video, good advice

Personally I'm a big fan of Ego and their line up of tools. Especially their multi tool. One brand I think is worth looking into is Kress. They're a more recent entry into the lawn tool market but they already have a wide range of stuff. Their professional rated tools are very impressive and their battery tech is downright insane. Even their consumer lineup is surprisingly high quality. Anyways, as always enjoyed the video and looking forward to what else you all have in store.

I am last minute shopping for a new hedge trimmer as the moving company decided to keep my old one. I love the details you provided and am swaying to the Milwaukee as I already own several spot lights and batteries. And I own a Stihl weedeater that has proven to be heavy and stops frequently. Local dealer recommends the ECHO. So, my deciding criteria is which one will cut the largest branches???? It will be too late for me but you might consider doing a video on which machine does what kind of work. GREAT video. I am off to dealership to see price ranges here in America South. THANKS!

If you do get around to making a commercial-grade hedge cutter comparison video, make sure you try to include the new ECHO DHC-2200r (or longer bladed DHC-2800r) machine. It’s not cheap, but I was well-impressed with its quality and performance.
@almclean4835 Жыл бұрын
I was given a battery hedge trimmer, it has the internal battery. I feel these are a bad idea for a tool that is used a few times a year. The ones you have demonstrated are much much better, detachable batteries are a winner. Easy choice for me, Milwaukee. It’s the battery platform I use for most of my tools.
@MachineryNation Жыл бұрын

I’ve been very happy with the Ego HT6500E … had it since 2020 and it has done an enormous amount of work … cuts up to 33mm no problem at all with a 650mm cutting blade. Ego seems to have their battery charging and cooling system sorted with the batteries lasting a long time. They have a good monitoring system in place so you don’t get too worried about a thermal runaway … unlike another brand that starts with “S” that I know a contractor lost $30k worth of gear and he also ended up with poisoning from the thermal runaway fumes and will never work again. Downsides would be it’s a touch weight, but the battery backpack helps on big jobs - good balance with battery or backpack. Yep, I will never go back to breathing in the toxic exhaust fumes.
@cesarcoronaii74567 ай бұрын
Any other brands have heat monitoring?first time I have heard of this thermal runaway? So battery emits this after running hot?
@garageblitztv32157 ай бұрын
@@cesarcoronaii7456 most do have some level of monitoring, however I have found that EGO has a far superior system, but most importantly they have a superior cooling system and they really force the air through when charging which substantially increases battery life … most of the others are what I would call a traditional “tool battery”, whereby they are seal off and require inefficient convection cooling through the plastic case. The only issue I have with the superior cooling of the EGO battery is that it’s easier for moisture to get into the battery, therefore you can get corrosion on the circuit board or connections which will cause a fault. You just have to be careful of rain.

Could you add information about cutting speeds please? It's great knowing the width of cut but also speed is equally important for clean cuts. Battery run times aren't that important as all of these will need additional batteries.
@NotYourAverageTreeMan Жыл бұрын
How is it equally as important for clean cuts? 🤔 Genuine curiosity - never heard that and can't fathom a logical reason 🤷♂ In fact, id say slower reciprocation is better for the majority of hedge trimming.

Well, I bought a Ryobi One+ hedge trimmer and I'm quite disappointed. Used a petrol one before and oh boy it had so much more power. Also, the 2.4Ah battery ran out of juice after about 20min. The 5Ah one was almost full after another 20min of use, so that's on a plus side. But I don't think any of these products can compete with the power of petrol tools!

The sad thing with the Dewalt DCM563 is that it doesn't let you sharpen the knives in a simple way. Dewalt Service does not accept doing it, and the shops that they refers to for sharpen the knives, will not do the dismantling to get the blade of. It's rather sad that maintenance is not part of the design. Really a low mark since I have so many Dewalt products. I will give my DCM563 a score of 3/5 based on this this weakness in design.

No offence but don't really see the point in allowing the viewers to decide which one is the best when they have only tried the one they have. After sitting through this video until the end only to find out there's no clear winner surely you should put us all out of our misery and tell us which one you thought was the best? Very much doubt you'll reply to this so I'm just going to go and buy the DeWalt 😂
@MachineryNation6 ай бұрын
We try to reply to all messages. We try not to give a clear winner. We try to keep viewers and the manufacturers happy. There are so many variants on which one would “win” as here it really depends what your circumstances are and range you require. If you already have Dewalt batteries, for you it would make sense to buy the Dewalt.
