There is zero chance they hold up to any scrutiny from someone who has even a small bit of deeper knowledge about good products, much less a deep dive from an expert like you. Great video, Dan! I did find the ingredients for Acqua du Parma. Not good. As for Kiehl’s they’ve been in the beauty and skincare game for a long time. Acqua di Parma is a prestige brand that does make an insanely good shaving cream for wet shaving. You’re paying for the distinctive AdP scent, which is amazing. But beards are not their thing, and that’s way too much money. If you wet shave, though, as for a shaped beard, their shaving cream is incredible and lasts forever.

That was fun! Google identifies WWD as Women's Wear Daily; I'm not sure how much it would be expected to care about beard products To be fair, Acqua Di Parma... did show some ingredients in description, but emphasized scent. If Baxter is Baxter of California, it is a grooming company that's been around for a while. I saw their branded combs in a store; they looked like Kent but were very thin and too flexible for my taste, let alone the price. Kiehl's has been around for nearly 170 years, starting as an apothecary and now (high-end) skin care. They've a store in Troy, among other places. I've seen many such lists, mostly simplistic (not simple), with rankings, evaluations, comments, pros and cons, etc. being contradictory or debatable. Sometimes a decent company gets mentioned; I don't know if that is a good thing!
@DanCBearded4 жыл бұрын

I’ve seen the beard oil on Amazon before for 27$ (if you click the link on page it takes you there). I really liked some of the ingredients I saw in it though, especially the fist ingredient I believe is Olive Squalane, also had Avocado Oil Vitamin E and Botanical Extracts. As someone who runs a website similar to this, I understand completely. Yes, brands do pay to be on these lists. A lot of the bigger ones are compiled by writers who know nothing about the products. They simply put out a request for help via a website, and "industry experts" will email them suggestions. They will compile that list and make a post. This could be women, men who have never grown a beard, etc. On our site, we do these "best of" lists as well. Our latest is here: beardedblade.com/best-beard-butters/ Exactly zero companies paid to be on this list, and you will probably agree more with our style of "best of" lists. Additional comment: it is interesting to dig into the authors of the articles as well. You start to wonder what their qualifications are for writing such articles. Most don't have facial hair on their own, and so have never used these products. And they almost never share their sources for how the list was generated. What they call good journalism is far from good because they don't cite sources.

After being schooled by Dan C over the past few months, if nothing else I know my beard products, and I _never_ see an accurate top whatever list of beard products. In fact, from what I've seen, it's often really a list of the absolute _worst_ products. That's really a shame, because new beardsmen simply don't know any better, and they end up not only wasting money, but instead of helping their beards, they're actually damaging them.

A lot of high end company’s pumping out junk. You should see the beard products available at Neiman Marcus lol.

Beard products from cosmetic companies. Aimed at city based professional types for whom branding is more important than anything else...

Kiehl's is a very well known beauty company. Very expensive but I wouldn't buy their beard oil. I'd never trust large companies that specialize in other things, all of a sudden concocting a beard oil.

These list are legal, but they are paid advertisement...Veteran Creative Director for top agencies...sometimes with the raise of UX (User Experience Professionals) and the believe in UC (User Centered) Design or Methodology... since most online consumer are smart, they might add 1 or 2 legitimate non paid brands...It is done in ALL MARKETS! So, you might want to AVOID those "Top 10 lists" they are BIASED or worse, PAID ADS!

It's like, I'm working with tailored fitted suits. Hugo boss.... Never heard of. It's not good stuff but it's one of the oldest grooming brands out there. Recommend thier perfumes do 👍
@DanCBearded4 жыл бұрын
@@FunkyJunky666 no, I disagree with that analogy. High end cologne companies have very little to do with beard grooming products. Colognes are terrible for your beard. You can be fully in depth with beard grooming and not cross over to colognes. Especially if it is a cologne company that makes a terrible beard product that you never hear about. Because people don't actually use it.

It makes me wonder what they think the level of intelligence is of the bearded community. We are not troglodytes and can actually read, comprehend what we read and understand what is best for our beards. I don't know whether to be insulted or laugh my butt off at their ignorance.

Eeeh from there looks to there prices they come off like there huge companies products witch im very unlikely to believe anything they say that isn’t for greed. I’ve been heavily into seeing how full of crap they are to the poent I don’t beleave anything they say as they have been exposed to many times for so many shady stuff . I’m not even beleave if the ingredients on those at all. Just like on any products. I’m way more likely to beleave when it comes from small business.

I don't believe there is a best beard oil. If the oil is all natural and a good price it probably will be a good oil. So many brands want to market their oil as being top notch or premium but in my opinion there is no oil out there that is premium except in the premium price and premium waste of money.

I think being civil is far more effective in the long run. If you lose civility, you lose a lot of things.
