I’ve visited Hawai'i seven times and stayed at the Queen Kapi’olani Hotel five times. Just as Erica mentioned, the location is great. Far enough away from the busy main strip to be quiet but only a block from the beach and Waikiki action. The renovations give the hotel an airy relaxed feel. One other tip, the hotel is across from the zoo. If you are renting a car, you can park overnight at the zoo for $1.50 per hour. That’s a bargain compared with the $45 per day for onsite parking that hotels charge. Thank you Erica and Jordan for your hotel review and your Hawai'i vacation guide vlogs!!!

Thanks for the great tip on parking! The valet did mention the parking option but luckily QK were doing a special where parking and valet were included in the nightly rate. You explained the feel of the place better than we did!

LOVED the Queen Kapiolani, I got waived resort fees and a studio room. But the studio was way to small (think closet) , and so I upgraded to a “normal” room as seen in the vid. If all you’re going to do is sleep, and are not sensitive to decor or claustrophobic, save money and choose a studio.

Thanks for your reviews of Waikiki. Been there once in 1999 at the Sheraton next to dukes restaurant which we loved. Liked the review of some a few blocks off the beach as options. Really want to be ON the beach. Concern is getting a hotel that says it’s on the beach but have to cross the street to get to the beach. That’s not really on the beach. Any thoughts on how to search? If you are looking for Hawaiian music it is getting hard to find in Waikiki. Kanikapila Grill from 5-9pm has wonderful groups of well known Hawaiian musicians every night. Food not so great, but grab a beer and have a listen. It's in the Outrigger Reef, which also features the Polynesian Voyaging Society memorabilia. Also, Duke's has Hawaiian music and we especially enjoy Maunalua on Fridays 4-6pm. Food's ok. We miss Honolulu a lot. There is so much to see and do. Got kids? Don't miss the aquarium and the zoo just down at Kapiolani Park. I also recommend for grownups the Iolani Palace, the only real palace in the US as Hawaii was a sovereign nation with a king and then a queen until the illegal takeover in 1893.

I stayed at Queen Kap in 1999 and it used to have such an old Hawaiian feel. Eating in the restaurant was like going back in time. Now it looks like a Hyatt Place or Hilton Garden Inn. What a bummer. And there used to be a Dennys right up the street that looked right out on Waikiki. Now I think it is a starbucks and overpriced trendy burger joint. I miss Hawaii of the 1990s
